Daryl is an Addiction Counselor, Recovery Support Specialist,
Criminal Justice Professional, community
organizer, activist, philanthropist, and last
but not least a friend. Daryl serves on
several boards in Connecticut focused on
criminal justice reform and re-entry to
society for incarcerated individuals. Before
becoming a DEI Director, Daryl started an
organization called Formerly Inc,
Connecticut's first Criminal Justice
Reform Organization. Daryl has set up a
community resource center providing information, community
referrals, and support groups to the families of individuals involved in

transition back to in-person Finalist Judging on March 15th at
Quinnipiac University after years of Covid restrictions and just
how important that is to students and volunteers.

Superintendent of New Britain Schools to discuss “a day in the life” of a
Superintendent.
Dr. Gasper has 26 years of experience
in public education throughout the
state of Connecticut and knows just
how to prioritize the most important
aspects of education to best benefit the
9,700 students in his district.
As Dr. Gasper is approaching the end
of his first full year at New Britain
Schools, he shares his goal to be a beacon for public urban education in
the state regardless of how long it takes. He understands that in order to
truly transform New Britain he will need to take a look at the city’s public
education from an operational and educational point of view to continue
making the necessary changes to improve New Britain public schools

5:30a and 9:00a, host Ann Baldwin invites Dr. Kari Sassu, Director of the
Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning at Southern Connecticut
State University to join the show and discuss Traffic Stop Practice for
Individuals with Autism.
For everyone, a traffic stop can create some anxiety. For an individual with
autism, it may have an even greater impact. Dr. Sassu explains the
initiative of The Blue Envelope Program, a tool created by the Department
of Motor Vehicles and the
Connecticut Police Chiefs
Association. The Center of
Excellence on Autism Spectrum
Disorders at SCSU, in collaboration
with the Southern Police, created a
training program that bridges the
autistic community and law
enforcement in Connecticut. Dr.
Sassu explains just how impactful this program can be for autistic drivers
and their families peace of mind.
On Saturday, March 18th at Tunxis College in Farmington, autistic drivers
will get an opportunity to experience a simulated traffic stop to practice
their communication with Police as well as help alleviate anxiety in similar
situations. This event will be hosted by Farmington, West Hartford, Avon
and Simsbury Police Departments, as well as the Southern Connecticut
State University Police Department.
