Governor Gavin Newsom is throwing his support behind Laphonza Butler, whom he's chosen to fill the late US Senator Dianne Feinstein's seat. The governor had vowed to appoint someone on an interim basis, something he called a "place-holder" while appearing on the Sunday Morning talk shows. But, now that he's tapped Butler, he's leaving it up to Butler to decide if she would want to run for a full term after she fills out Feinstein's term.
