In the wake of the murder of Sarah Everard this week, there have been growing calls for street harassment and violence against women to stop.

One year ago there was some speculation about whether the lockdown might result in some sort of ‘Baby-Boom’ given most of the country was stuck at home for more time than usual.

New figures just released to Newstalk Breakfast indicate that the opposite may actually be the case as they show that for the month of January 2021 registered births fell by 22% compared to the same month last year.

To explain the numbers and provide some perspective on this, Susan was joined by Professor Evelyn Mahon, from the school of Sociology and Social Policy at Trinity College Dublin and Mary Corcoran, Professor of Sociology at NUI Maynooth.

Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey is due to be broadcast in the United States this evening, Sunday March 7th, and then in the UK and Ireland tomorrow, Monday March 8th.

The HSE has said that the total number of vaccine doses that will be available to GPs in the coming weeks will be "slightly less" than previously thought, due to a "reprofiling" of Moderna deliveries.

HSE has also warned GPs they may not receive the total order for these coming weeks.

The Dress for Success Dublin (DfSD) charity supports women’s economic independence and campaigns for gender equality in the workplace and last month launched its 2021 International Women’s Day (IWD) campaign.

The campaign will see organisations across Ireland raising funds on March 8th 2021 to support the delivery of employment and career services to support women into sustainable employment.
