Ajmer Singh Aulakh (19 August 1942 – 15 June 2017) was a renowned Punjabi playwright from Mansa district, Punjab. He was one of the most creative and impactful writers and playwrights in the history of the revolutionary movement on Punjab or India, whose mark will live forever.
He reflected the essence of the semi-feudal character of rural oppression or the forces that governed it. His body of work illustrated the social reality of the peasantry in sublime depths.
Aulakh wrote nearly 13 one-act plays and about 20 short plays. He won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2006.
