I am so excited about tomorrow, my first Sunday back from being away from preaching over the summer. We are going to be talking about what it means to be hated for Christ's sake--and we'll learn how to walk in his power to do his will for the good of others. I am so looking forward to being with you guys at 10 a.m., 360 Schermerhorn St.!

Kids' Church will be in full swing as well, so invite friends and family.

Hey family,

As summer draws to a close, let us give thanks to God for all his blessings. Whether you got to go to the beach or not, whether you had a nice vacation or not, whether your air conditioner broke down (or you didn't have an air conditioner at all), start every day with an attitude of gratitude for what God has done in your life.

Tomorrow we welcome speaker Jim Salladin, who comes to us from Emmanuel Anglican Church. I look forward to seeing you at 10 a.m. Sunday, 360 Schermerhorn.

I also want to invite anyone who is interested in the future of our children's ministry to join me at a meeting following the service. Hey family,

God gave Moses a really big job--to free the Israelites from the slavery that had bound them for hundreds of years. Moses didn't think he could do it, and he came up with all kinds of excuses. But when God gives us a job, he also gives us what we need to complete that job. Join us this Sunday as Pastor John Fils-Aime pays us a visit in order to speak on this topic.

People are leaving the church and deconstructing their Christian faith in alarming numbers. Many would say they are disillusioned with God because of the hypocrisy of Christians. There has never been a more important time to ask what a truly life-changing encounter with God looks like. This Sunday we will be looking at the story of Jacob wrestling with God, to see what it has to teach on this very urgent question.

Does it ever seem to you that many people today are not responsible to anybody? That they're just out for themselves, doing their own thing, whatever seems right to them? This Sunday we'll be looking back at a time in Bible history which was very similar. At the time of the Book of Judges, Moses was long dead, and David would not be king for generations to come. Again and again the people disobeyed God and got themselves into trouble. But God was gracious; he sent leaders called judges to guide the people through dangerous times.
