Perhaps it's due to a combination of chronic stress, deep political and social divisions, financial pressures, or the constant churn of social media. Frequent exposure to outrage, combined with declining face-to-face interaction and growing feelings of isolation, can make it easier for disagreements to escalate into hostility.
