Synopsis: The sacrificial system set up in the Old Testament was indeed that- a setup. It was merely a shadow of what was to come: Jesus arriving on the scene as the perfect high priest. The more we understand both the similarities and differences between the Old Testament system and what Jesus did, the more we come to savor how Jesus paid the full price for our freedom from sin and shame.

And learning about the Spirit as both friend and teacher will only further remind us of our need to be continually be filled with the Spirit.

Synopsis: Racism is an assault on the very being of another person. It is therefore an assault on the goodness of God and His creation. Wholeness of self and community can only be realized when we allow the gospel to open our eyes to the fullness that God desires for each person He has made. When each of us finds our place in the heart of God, we find that we are cherished so deeply, anything that would seek to diminish us (e.g., racism) is antithetical to the will of God.

Synopsis: This is a parable with which every soul must grapple. Whether or not we realize it, grace (especially grace shown to others) is a difficult reality for us to accept. However, in our resistance we are failing to recognize that hidden in the scandal of grace is a unimgaginably vast treasure for our hearts, and if we understand what it is that we truly have in Christ, we will see that all calculations regarding fairness are irrelevant and trivial.
