No Bad Ideas episodes

  • Bad Ideas Classic: Sharknappers!!
No Bad Ideas is going to be on a bit of a hiatus for a little while, as Zach, Sarah, and Gabriel focus on wrapping up the first season of Unseen. Never fear: while we're gone, we're going to be sharing some of our favorite old school Bad Ideas episodes!
This week, Gabriel takes Zach and Sarah on a wild journey to the seedy world of San Antonio aquarium heists. What is the most dangerous thing you could try to steal? And what is the most ridiculous way you could steal it? Plus: illegal exotic pet farms, Oceans 11 as a pun now, and the place where everything good was stolen from somewhere else.

  • A Different Face to the World
This week on No Bad Ideas: what is in a face? A rose by another face...
Sarah brings the gang a story about a man who is making masks that don't look like masks - they look like real faces. Together, they spin a story about a world where everyone wears a mask all the time, and where expression is a luxury that only the ultra-rich can afford. But when a prince and a pauper exchange masks, they'll find themselves hurled into a world of plots, schemes, and wheels that are in need of breaking.
All of that, plus: nefarious purposes, evil puppet masters, seventh inning reveals, plots within plots, and mirrors that never lie.

  • The Mecha Wolf Empire
Today on No Bad Ideas... Wolves! Robots! Monsters! Bears! Second grade teachers!
For the third time in the history of the show, two of our hosts brought the same idea: a Japanese showdown between bears and monstrous robot wolves. When a small town deploys the 2020 equivalent of a scarecrow in its battle against bears, it created a set up tailor-made for a No Bad Ideas story. The squad does what it does best: turn this into a post-apocalyptic story of heroism, friendship, and very extra showmanship.
All of that, plus: parting curtains, the real Japanese wolves, a Dwayne Johnson movie waiting to happen, bear translators, and a society on its back foot.

  • Jailed Again?!
This week on No Bad Ideas: Cosplay! Cats! Real Estate! Crime! Cats!
Gabriel brings the squad the story of a woman who does it all. She's a model! She's a real estate agent! She dressed up as Catwoman on Instagram! And commits masked robberies! The team discusses the best way to turn her harrowing tale into a rousing narrative - everything from a world where superheroes and villains are on social media to a portrait of someone reckoning with the meeting of badassery and geek culture.
All of that, plus: the fandom hustle, Selina Kyle's instagram, Hulk speech, beloved characters, and real money problems.

  • The Seventeenth Flight to Nowhere
The Bad Ideas Squad is going on a wonderful scenic tour to... nowhere! What? How does that work? Tune in to find out!
Sarah brings the team a story about how an Australian airline is providing travel-hungry customers with a rather eccentric way to get the airplane experience they so desperately want. The team tries to figure out what is the best way to adapt this into a good story, and how contemplative and arthouse their creation should be.
All of that, plus: human absurdity, the Snowpiercer route, an industry in shambles, land dollars, and a lot of guys called Jake.

    Hello Friends!
We're slipping into your podcasting feeds with a very special, very exciting, very announcement! One that - for once! - has nothing to do with bad ideas! Zach, Sarah, and Gabriel have just released a brand-new audio fiction fantasy series called Unseen, and we wanted to share it with all of you!
The premise behind the show is simple: in a world where magic is real but invisible to almost everyone, the few magical beings that do exist struggle, every day, just to be seen.

  • Existing In The Same Three Rooms
On this week’s No Bad Ideas, Sarah, Gabriel, and Zach check in for the first time in a few months about how their 2020s are going. Or, at least what they're working on and how they’re still coping, seven months into the coronavirus pandemic.
We cover psychic extremes, incredible highs, the brooding darkness, and trying to balance out the background noise.

  • Don't Forget Your Conmen!
The Bad Idea Team returns with a story of bizarre science - as well as some quick announcements about No Bad Ideas for the rest of 2020!
Zach hits Sarah and Gabriel with a sampling of bad ideas that have been honored by the Ig Nobels, the long-established spoof price for... let's call it interesting scientific pursuits! The team turns the concept on its head, devising a pitch for a film about the overly intense scientist who gets put in charge of the awards themselves! All of that, plus: off-the-beaten path science, Flat-Earthers, literal fires, the new funder in town, and fake awards for silly science.

  • Emotional Support Tarantula (With Beth Eyre)
We’re delighted to be joined once again by the illustrious Beth Eyre, podcast actor extraordinaire.
Gabriel starts us out strong with the tale of an Australian man’s misinterpreted quest to get rid of household pest, and we turn it into a rom-com that we think has real legs - eight of them, in fact. Then Beth brings an idea of her own and enacts her revenge on all of us with a Canadian crime story involving the theft of that classic combination: hot tubs and beef. We sit in awe for a moment, and then concoct the comedy of what a crime family does for last-minute party planning.
Plus: Dan Levy's new project, very strange parties, really petty curses, the worst optics, and the things we do for love.
    Today’s Bad Ideas™:
