UMO (@unknownmortalorchestra) is the band, and Ruban Neilson is who I talked to in this episode. Ruban is from New Zealand, but started UMO in Portland, Oregon where he's lived for several years now. We talked about how he got here, his first tours, and how he made his great new album Multi-Love (out now on @jagjaguwar). Plus, punk house chili makes another appearance.

We talked about Brooklyn in 2015, Los Angeles in 1989, his own podcast "Microphone Check" (@frannieandali), touring, making music, and much much more.

The band is called @Drenge and they are two brothers named Eoin and Rory Loveless and they are from a place called Castleton, which is in Derbyshire, which is in England. They're young and on the way up and I do my best to relate to them and they did their best to relate to me, and it was an all around great time.

Jon Spencer was kind enough to sit with me in the basement where his band practices and walk me through his 20+ years of being a professional musician.
