Hey guys! Late and quick episode, but here is something I have been talking about ever since the start of No Empty Seats.Ā In this episode, I discuss my experiences with therapy and the type of connection I strive for in sessions. I seek therapists who always know how to give advice, support, or accountability, depending on the type of mental state I am in. Personally, therapy should never feel like Iām going out of my way to talk about my life. The conversation always feels natural, and I walk out ALWAYS feeling better, whether I am generally happier or just have more clarity in how to approach my life. When you have someone completely separate from your personal life that can offer professional advice, it can make the world of a difference knowing I donāt need to go through things alone.Ā
What I am trying to say is that the ways therapy can benefit you are MONUMENTAL, and donāt let a bad experience or connection with your first therapist dictate how you feel about sociopsychological support altogether. But on the other hand, some therapy is always better than no therapy! Acknowledge the high ceiling therapy can offer while also knowing that you should be proud of carving out an hour of your week to become a more mindful and compassionate person.Ā
You donāt need to go through something specific when walking into your sessions. Weekly therapy still helps you maintain a level-headed mind, stringing together thoughts, and helping you not be alone in your thoughts.Ā
In this episode, I talk about my experiences with administrative burnout during NESās growth. I share the little joys I seek inside and outside of the nonprofit, and how that can drastically change your mood. Find ANYTHING that keeps you going and gets you out of bed ā Concerts, food, exercise, treats, hobbies, or any sense of belonging that helps you forget about any of the daily stressors in your life. Youāll realize a new sense of freedom that you can add whatever it takes, and youāll realize that you DONāT HAVE TO MAKE LIFE BE HARDER THAN IT ALREADY IS!Ā
Thanks for listening š Someoneās Doing Better Because of You
š³š«¢ This is mainly clickbait, Iām just messing with you. I would not want to be anywhere else and I do NOT take Brown for granted!
With that being said, there is a very valuable lesson that I wish I had learned at an earlier age. I put so much pressure on this immature and vain dream at 16 years old, where getting into college was my entire life. And interestingly enough, getting everything I thought I needed at that young age delayed lots of growth, threw me further into the rat race, and made my college experience a whole lot harder.Ā
Give it a listen on Youtube, Apple, or Spotify!Ā
Less stress and obligations weighing over your head = Having the energy to be social and check in on the people you love. Stop regimenting everything in your schedule and start carving out time to do nothing -- and don't feel bad about it. If you can't do it for yourself, at least do it for the people you love.
A mental health conversation about the absurd things men do to avoid talking about their feelings.
Filmed in April 2025
Hey guys, itās been a while! As some of you may know, No Empty Seats started back in 2021 off the basis of sharing stories and lessons learned on mental health. Every week, I used to post graphics and anecdotes of my own experiences and conversations Iāve shared in the mental health work. And unfortunately through tons of different life stressors, I havenāt been able to regularly talk about mental health like I used to.
In fact even still running NES, a whole ass mental health nonprofit, lately I actually have felt the STIGMA around mental health, and felt suppressed to talk about my emotions and embarrassed to advocate for someones mental health in public conversation.
Recently I realized I needed to get back out there: Share my story, do the work I used to love doing, and most importantly be there for myself and the poeple I love.
These weekly episodes are going to be digestible, 10-15 minute, casual anecdotes of everything Iāve learned on my journey with mental health. Super chill lessons Iāve learned and would love to spread with you, just like the Instagram posts I used to do. Been wanting to get off of social media and do longer form for a while. I want to get out of my comfort zone and get back to sharing my thoughts through this public journal. You can count on me to post these every Fridays. Take care of yourself this weekend and rememebr that someone is doing better because of you š
Boys Episode!!!
Super honored to have some of my closest friends, Mac and Daniel on the podcast for a zoom interview about āHaving the Hard Conversations Behind Mental Healthā. Whether it be speaking up and asking for help, asking a friend if theyāre struggling, or just simply bringing up a difficult conversation you need to have with a friend, mentor, or family member, hard conversations are hard. And we hope your listening helps you realize you are strong enough to speak up.Ā
Podcast 6 is out on all platforms, check it out! We talk about all the negative side effects of social media and phone usage, such as overstimulation, instant gratification, early exposure to trauma and maturity(knowing too much), and brain rot.
āØI also discuss other updates to the NES team such as our latest pitches and college ambassdaors! Check out the 30 minutes of me shooting the shit while youāre on the road and I hopefully you learn something from it <3
