NO ENCORE

Whatcha gonna do, brothers, when NOENCOREMANIA runs wild on YOU?

Dave takes the opportunity to discuss his almost never-mentioned totally secret passion of professional wrestling at length this week - Adam is mostly on board - alongside the incredible font of grapple-based soap opera knowledge that is Kefin Mahon~!

Particularly prolific in the podcasting arena, Kefin is the host of The Attitude Era Podcast, How2Wrestling, and Cinema Swirl - three shows Dave heartily recommends you immediately add to your listening rotation.

And so the boys convene on a busy episode that is as likely to raise your hand in triumphant victory as it is to betray you with a brain-scrambling chair shot outta nowhere.

Do not miss out on the NO ENCORE Patreon by the way - Adam is currently celebrating the milestone of 50 Album Club episodes with his deep-dive into Smashing Pumpkins classic Siamese Dream, while Dave and Andy return this Monday with horror double-bill Smile and Smile 2.

As for this here smackdown, it looks like this:

ACT ONE: The preamble in which we ramble.

ACT TWO (12:19): Chaos reigns as the news section takes hold - fans fined for going late to gigs! Oasis vs The Beatles! Also those terrible latest Beatles movie(s) set photographs! Slipknot implode even further! Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson pivots to music!

ACT THREE (1:01:20): Top 5 Craziest Wrestlers

Let's revitalise.

Adam and Dave are joined in-studio by Rebecca Breene McDonnell; artist manager, music PR and co-creator of Art to Art; a video series you've likely seen pop up in your feeds where artists interview one another about their respective processes and wherever the conversation takes them.

It's very good, so be sure to check it out once you're done with this episode.

As for this conversation, there is much to discuss as ever so let's get involved - do also get involved on the NO ENCORE Patreon as the Film Club and Album Club put more numbers on the boards.

ACT ONE: We learn about Rebecca's passion project Art to Art, the many facets of its construction, and the vast cast of characters at the heart of it.

ACT TWO (37:01): Spotify dominates this week's news section as the curtain is pulled back on artist profitability (spoiler: not good) and new AI regulations (could be better). There's also check-ins with The Weeknd, Sam Fender & Olivia Dean, and Travis Barker, plus some words for the late William Orbit.

ACT THREE (1:10:22): Top 5 Healing Songs

The Dave & Adam Express is back, powering along the rails once more as the boys keep things in-house for what is a very busy episode indeed.

Having briefly touched on the passing of Glen Hansard last week, we take the time to focus on the extraordinary reaction to his death, from extensive media coverage to divisive online commentary to headline-making funeral arrangements.

Beyond that, you've got a Dave-fronted Top 5 that he insists is one of his best in a long time (while also being fully aware he rarely does such selections of his own these days).

Don't forget to sign up to the NO ENCORE Patreon for extra episodes - Adam's latest Album Club is a must-listen for Sunny Day Real Estate fans, while Adam also leads the charge on the next Film Club as Chris Hemsworth's Extraction series finds itself in our crosshairs.

And now, on with the show...

ACT ONE: Preamble.

ACT TWO (12:20): Let's talk about Glen Hansard.

ACT THREE (35:04): Top 5 Good Songs in Bad Movies

Photographer to the stars Christian Tierney returns to the NO ENCORE guest hot seat for a second bite at the cherry in the sophomore edition of a Top 5 run-down of cover songs that eclipse their predecessors.

But if you'd like to spend a bit more time with us, please join us over on the NO ENCORE Patreon where we have a catalogue of 100+ bonus episodes with brand new ones each Monday.

ACT ONE: The preamble, in which we ramble and discuss The Odyssey once more.

A news-less NO ENCORE? That'll never work.

And yet the boys pull through to deliver an episode of twists and turns fit for the Gods themselves alongside able shipmate Darragh Nolan of Irish Independent fame.

Onwards...

ACT ONE: Preamble.

ACT TWO (5:31): The World Cup pop culture crossover clash comes to its excessive end as Tom Cruise and Wayne Rooney battle for supremacy. Before that, a unique tribute to the late Kevin Keegan.

ACT THREE (26:29): Dave and Darragh offer differing viewpoints on Christopher Nolan's latest box office juggernaut The Odyssey.

ACT FOUR (52:17): Fresh from an epic journey of his very own, Sonic Architect Adam reports back from the Belgian F1 Grand Prix.

ACT FIVE (1:06:22): Top 5 Musical Odysseys.
