Nearly 400 homes in Milwaukee have been purchased by only 3 out of state and investment groups. Must be because Milwaukee was rated #1 in fixer upper homes and the price is right. But the homes aren’t being purchased by anyone who lives here and that’s a problem. ACTS Housing has a plan to make sure as many homes in the city are purchases by people in the city with a new acquisition fund to fully combat the investor-landlord purchasing in Milwaukee. It’s not that the city doesn’t want people coming into the area, the people just want to know that whoever is coming here will be making an effort to grow Milwaukee for the better not for profit.

Jason Fields joins Truth in the Afternoon while Dr.Ken Harris continues his assignment. He’s joined by the phenomenal Dr.Christina Outlay, UW Whitewater Associate Professor, Founder of Colorcoded Inc, Executive Director of Maydm non-profit and much more. They talk about STEM and people of color, like what can we do to get our youth more involvement and opportunity to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math? The era we live in dictates that we have a need to increase our technological interests for our youth.

Jason Fields continues to hold it down for Dr. Ken Harris. On such an important day with the elections going on Jason asks, if we voted. And if so, for who and why? Also, what do you see from the polls today and for Wisconsin’s future? Jason Fields feels that we need to do a much better job of understanding the voting process and Brian le you ask the tough questions to make sure that the people were voting into office are actually loyal to our needs because they know them firsthand.

While Dr.Ken Harris is on assignment Sorina B. and Kyle Wallace grace the microphones with some hot takes, after western North Carolina’s Sheriff announces a plan to have AR 15 readily available to help combat a possible school shooting. As part of a new defense plan, would having a rifle in the school be the best option to keep kids safe in school? What else would we even do? How comfortable would you feel knowing that your child goes to a school where an AR is locked and loaded just in case? Would you feel like it’s only raising the risk of a mass shooting? Should we fight violence with violence?

What would be your solution to stop mass shooting if not allowing guns in schools? Whether it’s a community resource officer or an armed teacher someone should be prepared to handle a mass shooting threat. yet not everyone is thrilled about there being any gun available for anyone to use in any school. Sorina B. and Kyle Wallace hear from parents, teachers, retired military and more about their opinion on what we need to do on Truth in the Afternoon with Dr.Ken Harris. Some people vote for having AI rather than having an AR to be able to predict and prevent another mass shooting.

Are we ready as Black people to host the RNC? When we hear the word Republican there can be some ill feelings attached to it. That’s Denise Thomases question for Friday as she finishes the week for Dr.Ken Harris while he’s on assignment. She may have sparked a fire on this Friday. How will you comport yourself when the Republicans take over the city? DT says that we need more representation of color not just in politics but in general. The image and appearance are so important for our future.

What is the government actually done for people of color? Whether democrat or Republican historically the black vote has never counted for much and as history repeats itself, we continue to see the black vote diminished in light of important elections. Should the black vote be abstained until our demands are met for the needs we’ve been begging for? does it actually matter whether we vote red or blue? Denise “DT” Thomas takes over the airwaves Well Dr.Ken Harris is on assignment. And she’s upset, how do we in 2020 to allow a world-renowned basketball star to get nine years in a Russian prison? When the president in the presidential administration has spoken in support of Brittney Griner how do we allow this to happen? With a black woman as vice president how is this even a potential? We’ve got more power than were exercising, we need to bring her home.

Denise Thomas continues to talk to Milwaukee about the things on her mind. Like Brittney Griner, Breonna Taylor, the census, stand your ground laws, the Wisconsin state fair and a to top it off tough question about our friends. Do we only talk to or communicate with people we agree with? Are we canceling friends who we don’t see eye to eye with now? With all the information at our fingertips we are being shown peoples colors, their true colors more and more daily.

Dr.Ken Harris talks about Milwaukee’s decisions to remove Arnitta Holliman as the Director of office of violence prevention. There’re questions now that need to be asked. There’s been a lot of funds funneled into that office to combat violence but with what success? Now that there’s a leadership shift, we need a deep dive into the use of funding that was given. The Office of Violence Prevention will eventually elect a new director but first Dr.Ken Harris says we need to find out about the funds that we’re given during her time in office. But then again what’s gone is gone.
