  • Episode 022 - No Labels, No Limits - Sarah Gets Personal, Insights for Your Journey

Hold your own feet to the fire with this very unique episode, as Sarah Boxx interviews herself, asking some very timely and thought-provoking questions and providing insights that might help you along your journey.

She leaves us with some key pieces of advice on life, the one suggestion she would have made to her teenage self, and ideas for dealing with those more difficult people in our lives. Inspiration comes in all forms. She mentions being inspired by the sports drama movie, The Legend of Bagger Vance, and the biggest lesson she learned was to "keep chipping away at the layers, or the inauthentic parts of ourselves, so that we can really be our full selves." How do you know when it's time to make a change? "The piece of me that knew it was time to make a change was that part that told me I wasn't living who I was. That happened in other positions. Not only just employment positions but in choosing a career path, volunteer work, all different types of things. I usually check in with my gut. When I've had the most trouble is when my gut has told me one thing and I've ignored it." Trust your instincts and hold your feet to the fire!

  • Episode 021 - No Labels, No Limits - with Greg Dorst, Authentic Consultant for "The Other Bar"

“So the point is to step into every opportunity that you see, every opportunity that you get. Don't worry about whether or not it might not turn out well. What's wrong with it not turning out well?”

What do King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table have to do with a taxi driver in New York and young man with a dream of being a doctor? How does someone give up practicing law and later become a consultant with a group called “The Other Bar”, made up of alcoholic and drug-addicted to lawyers, judges and law students who need to find a new way? And how does composing and performing original music free someone to be authentic?

Join me in my interview with Greg Dorst as he weaves a path from a dark time to one of great hope and adventure. A great storyteller, Greg’s passion for learning and interest in the human experience emerge as he talks about what it took to turn his life around. Today he is a more compassionate, helpful, and service-oriented man than he was 21 years ago when he was at a low point with no clear way out.

“There was a time in my life when I was practicing law that I was using alcohol to escape from the pressures, the stress, and the difficulties... It made it difficult for me to even want to practice law any longer.” In his usual upbeat, engaging way, Greg shares what he’s learned and how that led to becoming a “change expert” who now works with individuals and organizations that need a path forward.

“I believe that in my own waking up, growing up, cleaning up and showing up, I've found a way to help organizations do the same thing.”

  • Episode 020 - No Labels, No Limits - with Sarah and Summer, Insightful Business Duo

Oftentimes, we find ourselves stretched thin, over-extended in everyday life. True to our human nature, we naturally try to find ways to be more efficient, sometimes taking shortcuts. Today, Summer and I discuss the positive and negative effects of taking the easy way around and how important it is to actually do the work when it's necessary, rather than delaying the inevitable.

Summer encourages us to"Take the extra two minutes and allocate your resources to do the job the right way the first time, save yourself the grief. The temporary solution is never going to be the resolution."

When checking things off the list, Sarah says, "I feel so great when I do those tiny little things, and in my head, I just don't think about them anymore. It's done, it's over. Once I've made a decision, it's the same thing. I don't want to have to touch it and do it twice. Let's just make the decision, if I need more time to research it, that's fine. But once I finally commit, unless there's really compelling reasons to back up, I just move on."

Moral of this story: either you put in the work on the front or you put in a lot more work on the back end. Remind yourself that you will ultimately save time, energy and mental stress. Taking shortcuts or only doing half the work, both of those things wear on us day to day and they steal our joy. And so, when you are struggling, remind yourself, put in the work and at the end you'll have more joy.

  • Episode 018 - No Labels, No Limits - with Malcolm and Simone, Transformational Duo

Serial dating is something our next guest mastered on his way to finding his perfect match. Malcolm and Simone share their story of how they met and became a great duo, helping each other develop their character sheet and beginning the process of transformation together. From there, they created a non-profit, wrote an amazing book (originally written for their future children), and helped many others on their way to find their purpose and objective function.

"Most people just let life happen to them. And, whatever it is, it just hits them by chance. It happens to fall in their lap, is what they do, what they become, what they believe. And, what we're strong proponents of is: No, no, don't just accept what life throws at you. Don't just believe what you grew up hearing. Actually go and find what you believe and want." - Simone

"The core thing that I think people need to accept, that our society doesn't really get across to people, there are two major decisions that you get to make in life. They are yours, and you have ownership over the results of those two decisions. First is, what you believe. That can be anything from politics to religion, to the way you think people interact, to the value of friends. You get to choose all of those things. The second, is you get to choose who you are. You don't get to be somebody who gets mad and yells at someone. And then say, 'Oh, I have no control over that, that's just who I am.' You choose who you are." -Malcolm Learn more about Malcolm and Simone here: thepragmatistfoundation.com The Pragmatist's Guide to Life https://www.facebook.com/SimoneHCollins https://www.facebook.com/CollinsMalcolm

  • Episode 017 - No Labels, No Limits - with Vanessa Collier, Master Blues Musician

Sharing her love of music and the blues, Vanessa Collier doesn't let much hold her back. She is known as a master musician and multi-talented blues performer. She plays all the saxophones, the flute, clarinet, funk piano, guitar, and she's been dabbling with bass and drums. Listen in as we analyze her progression from childhood to her current 27 year old self.

"Being an introvert, I feel that I don't always communicate it as clearly as I can, so, one of the things that keeps me thinking is how can I be more clear? How can I communicate better? And, how can I connect with people better? Music has always been a great way for me to do that because it hasn't required words, I can play how I feel."

"You're going to feel pulled to something at some point in your life. It may be during college, it may be in your 30s or 40s, where you finally find your life's passion and something that you want to absolutely invest in. Just trust in yourself.
