  • Episode 42 - No Labels, No Limits - with Anne Sugar, Executive Coach and Speaker

Our guest today, Anne Sugar, is an executive coach and speaker who advises top leaders. She also writes as an executive coach for Harvard Business School. Her combination of experience, education and positive psychology, as well as being a published author, sets the stage for a great interview.

"Part of being creative or thinking about new ideas is having the space to put something out there. An idea that's messy and not very good, but all those ideas over time create big opportunities, right? So how, and it's so simple in the sense of there's so much we could talk about, trust and respect, all of that, but it's just simply having somebody's back, right?

"What are the secrets to becoming a successful leader? It's really about three things. Learning - a lot of the really successful people that I coach read a lot of fiction, biographies to things about their industry, their verticals. Next - hard work, you have to work hard. The last thing is that people look at their careers from a serendipity perspective and that you don't need to have a five year plan. I'm a big believer in having a plan every three months, not this big grand plan, five year plan."

Listen in to follow his story from his first job at a golf course, to the tragic loss of his parents and his ability to embrace music that has changed him throughout the years.

"I think you have to be relatable as much as you can in your art or your music or whatever you're trying to do in life. If you can relate to somebody else, they may relate to you in the same way. Being as honest and true to yourself as you can."

"I think you need to surround yourself with the right people to achieve a balance. I think there's always going to be the fear factor in anything that you do. Know when to take the right chances in life."

Set small goals to climb the ladder if you're looking for the big goal in the end, because I think everything leads to something else. I'm a believer in synchronicity, everything happens for a reason."

Listen in on our 40th episode as we interview our guest, Dr. Virginia LeBlanc. She is an amazing woman of many talents: an author, a speaker, a singer, a coach, consultant, and educator who has mastered the ability to traverse diverse industries through her divergent thinking.   "Heart health is so important in all that we do because if our heart is not right, again, working toward that self love and unconditional self love, we, it, it's more difficult to be productive in your personal life as well as your professional life. When we know how to love and lead ourselves, then we can love and lead people. "   "...getting over that fear of the unknown, of whether or not someone's going to like you, or whether or not you're going to say the right things. I think when you approach things with the right heart, the right mindset, it's going to translate and those who need to hear your message will hear it and be affected by it."   Learn more about the Doc, here:

  • Episode 39 - No Labels, No Limits - with Pax Tandon, Mastering Mindfulness through Positive Psychology

Pax Tandon is a mindfulness thought leader with a degree from the world-renowned Masters of Applied Positive Psychology Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Through her coaching, consulting, writing, filmmaking and media appearances she has helped everyone from newbies and skeptics to seasoned meditation practitioners commit to an elevation of spirit and to flourish. She now brings these tools and strategies to a wider audience in her forthcoming book, Mindfulness Matters: A Guide to Mastering Your Life [Schiffer Publishing, August 2018].

“Mindfulness is the foundation of thriving. It is hard to fill a cup that is already full, and mindfulness helps us empty the cup so we can add in better liquid,” Tandon says. “In a world of constant distractions and stimuli, we’re losing our most valuable superpower: our ability to focus. Mindfulness brings us back to the present, the only reality that exists, and helps us stay grounded there.”

"Positive psychology isn't about being positive all the time. It's not a happy-ology. It's not a yellow bumper sticker on the back of your car. It's actually about recognizing that negative emotions serve a really strong purpose in your life and in fact negative emotions help engender a kind of change that positive emotions cannot. Negative emotions serve a purpose. Our greatest force for change are negative emotions that lead to the greatest growth."

  • Episode 38 - No Labels, No Limits - with Sally Saint, Energy Reader

Sally Saint, today's No Labels No Limits guest, has an amazing story teaching others how to be conscious parents. Sally hails from the UK where she is a therapist specializing in Reiki, an energy worker, artist and writer. A woman of many talents who uses them to better the world around her.

"You could have an experience that may seem minor, but blow up massively. It could be the straw that breaks the camel's back, something so simple could just crack it. Those are the typical things I'm seeing that are happening when the person is ready to change. So although you may feel like your life's falling apart or you feel like you're falling apart, energetically you are 100 percent ready."

"One of the basic tools that I learned to use is regarding expression. If you've held a lot in, bite down and start the writing process, write it all down. This is one of the most simple ways of starting thoughts, releasing them and opening up because you can let loose on paper. If you feel like the pressure cooker is about to blow, get a piece of paper. It doesn't matter if you can't even read it yourself, but always burn it because you're starting the release process."

  • Episode 37 - No Labels, No Limits - with Jess Pettitt, Good Enough Now

We welcome today's guest, Jess Pettitt, with open arms. She's an author, a standup comedian, Social Responsibility/Social Justice, Diversity and Change Management speaker and consultant. This episode is full of great advice and truthful insights into being "Good Enough Now".

"Then I realized, I was onto something and I got excited about it. What's interesting about burnout or compassionate exhaustion or whatever we want to call it, is that if we can self-generate our own energy back into the work, then it's completely unstoppable. And then that's what I did."

"We can't do everything all the time, 100% of the time. There's a Facebook meme that says, 'I can do anything. I just can't do everything.' And as instagrammy as that may sound, it's a really important reminder - so if I can do anything but I can't do everything, if I team up with someone else in the same predicament, we're actually going to be able to accomplish more. It's creating a sense of belonging in that community and a sense of belonging has actually changed the world."

  • Episode 36 - No Labels, No Limits - with Melissa Hood, Conquering ADHD

Have you crossed paths in life with someone with ADHD? Or perhaps there is someone in your family or circle of friends challenged by it? Our guest today, Melissa (Missy) Hood, gives us great insights on dealing with the disorder, tips to succeed and ways to understand others who struggle with the disorder. Her book, "Memoirs of an ADHD Mind", explores her diagnosis of ADHD and Dyslexia and how she found ways to manage and make her disadvantages work for her.

"I've always been an out of the box thinker, but for analyzing and higher critical thinking, I think ADHD people become really codependent upon people doing things for them. My job forced me to do things myself. It forced me to learn myself and that was the best lesson anybody could have ever pushed me into."

"Think about this. When we gain weight, it takes us a while to put it on. It's going to take us a while to get it off. When we get hurt through trauma, it took us awhile to have those layers put on, so it takes us awhile to walk it out and get them off...so it's a layered system and so you peel the layers off by being gracious to yourself."

  • Episode 35 - No Labels, No Limits - Froswa' Booker-Drew, Partnership Broker and Relational Leadership Junkie

We truly enjoyed interviewing today's guest, Dr. Froswa' Booker-Drew, who specializes in relationship building and connecting others. Her company, Soulstice, helps others define and improve their narrative. She is also an Author, Speaker and Trainer and has led groups on very interesting journeys, including a Silence Retreat to a convent and gathering a group of diverse women to teach how to build social capital.

"We don't have spaces to connect anymore, with technology and social media. I think people are so "ON" all the time that they aren't refreshing and replenishing and so it's hard to pour out and give to people when you don't do that for yourself."

"I always give the example about when you're on an airplane and they tell you to put your mask on first before you start helping other people. And I think we forget that somewhere, beyond the airplane of our lives, we need to take these opportunities to disconnect and to put your own mask on and to be quiet and, and take care of you so that you can be there for the people who need you."

Our guest today, Tifane Falvey, shares a very personal story of raising a family, with her last son born severely brain damaged due to a virus she contracted during pregnancy. Through raising children to managing a divorce and finding her true calling.

"After I had my son, North, he allowed me to see the path not only for myself but also for those that came into my realm. I was able to help them unearth and excavate what their gifts were beyond the things that they had grown up identifying with. Because often we're looking through the mirror of the way our parents see us versus our family or even our teachers. Being able to see the world in a way that is full of opportunity and full of gifts and full of experiences without judging."

"The sweetest thing that we can possibly do on the planet is create new visions based on our life experiences. We interview Cortina (Tina) Jackson in today's episode #33. Tina is a fiction thriller writer, holds two Master's Degrees and is a super mom to two young adults sons. She also shares a very personal experience with an abusive relationship.

Starting by discussing an earlier job as a correctional officer in the prison system, she said, "I had to use my personality, we call it "verbal judo", where you have to use your words to make a situation better. I gained a lot of respect from offenders because I just treated them like people and they would disclosed things to me. I learned a lot about people and a lot about victims.
