Our guest, Rachel Thompson, gives us a glimpse into her life story and how she started out on a path that was supposed to bring happiness and fulfillment, by proxy. She succeeded, but the truth was, after a 4.0 Master's degree, securing a high-paying job, buying a home, she felt neither. Thus began her first step into entrepreneurship.
"I want to give listeners a realistic view of what it's like to be an entrepreneur, but I also want to give motivation and inspiration and to let people know all these people are in the same boat as you, they are pursuing their passion, this is where they're at and this is how they did it."
Rachel now owns a company that is dedicated to helping people find happy and balanced lives - Mind Body & Spirit Entrepreneur. Learn more about her self-development practices and educate yourself here:

Our guest today is Josiah Bruny, a Southern Californian, with a lifelong dream of sharing music and art (and the business side) with underprivileged and at-risk children around the world. He started a non-profit called Music Changing Lives in 1998 and it has grown into a phenomenal after school program impacting the lives of many thousands of children.
When asked about his success, Josiah says, "There's thousands of people that have molded me into who I am today and I have to give them all the credit. And that's why I'm so appreciative."
Successful people create habits that keep them at that level. Josiah says that having a schedule for your priorities and waking up early to power through work while it's quiet are some of his success habits. Also he mentions, "Know when it's time to say no. A lot of people, once you start making it, will start clinging onto you because they see the bright star in you. Now you got to know when to say no, that's not for me or not right now. And before I used to take on so much I will get burned out and so I've learned how to back away because some people don't do the same for you."

Women play such a vital role in music, not only in the past, but today as well. In this episode, we interview lead singer and multi-instrumental musician Jackie Auguste and bass player Andy Ramjattan of the Pop Rock band, Across The Board. They come together to share their unique story and give us practical business advice on managing all aspects of a music career. In a few short years, they've experienced so much success, culminating with their second album, SONIC BOOM, just released May 5th, 2018.
When asked about their musical success, Jackie says, "You need to know about social marketing, social media marketing. You need to know what the trends are and what's changing, where you should be now. You also have to have your own website or a landing page." When asked about challenges she's faced, Jackie says, "We as artists have to help other artists come into their own. Don't be scared to put something that's less than polished either. People want to see the struggle."
Andy gives great advice when he says, "Be happy about what you're doing and it'll take you to that next level, only when you're having fun and you like what you do."
Across The Board has contributed to some amazing causes and has worked closely with a non-profit group that supports Ovarian Cancer in Canada. They recently collaborated and wrote a song called "She's Listening" which was given to the charity.
When discussing advice that we might give to our younger selves, she says, "Every kid should learn how to read music, learn the basic chords on a guitar, learn to sing a few notes and learn how to play in rhythm on a tambourine."

We are continuing our spotlight on women in music and this week's guest doesn't disappoint! Mella Barnes is a current Project Manager, Songwriter, Session Singer and Voiceover Artist living in Nashville, TN. As a side note, she's an animal lover with three dogs, an angora rabbit and a variety of fosters at home.
We dug deep with a few questions on what got her started and kept her going in the music industry. She says, "I started singing in my uncles and cousin's recording studios at 14."
When asked how she took big risks and progressed from a one-off singer at her family's recording studio to a Tunedly Project Manager, she says, "It's important to take every risk in and of itself and analyze it because it's easy to get so bogged down, take each thing as its own separate piece. Even if it doesn't work out, then you've learned something about yourself."
We are all so busy; managing it all can be a daily struggle. Mella says, "Work as much as you can the days that you can. If you struggle with depression or anxiety or anything that might impede your work, on your good days, do as much work as you can and then save it up. Automate things so that it just becomes something you don't have to think about."
What advice does she have for new artists? "If you are just getting started as a singer or songwriter or any type of musician, I would say, LEARN EVERYTHING. Everything you can about everything. Most people think, okay, I want to be a guitar player so I just have to learn how to play guitar. It's so much more than that. In today's world, you really need to know how to do basic accounting, basic budgeting. You have to know social media, you have to figure out how you're going to get yourself out there. There's so much to learn. I really would say treat yourself, your singing, your song, writing as a business and then learn everything you can about that business because really that's what you are. When you're a musician, you're running your own music business.
What's her #1 piece of advice? "It all works out...that would be my one take-away. Everything will work out, even if the worst case scenario happens, it works out (maybe not the way you had planned but), you'll be fine."

We are celebrating influential women in music, you should too! Today we interview Madelyn Victoria, a talented vocalist and songwriter from Deep South Texas, who has made a career in the Country Music industry, charting a #1 hit single on AM/FM boards.
When asked what she most enjoys about her career, she says, "My vision is just being out on the road and enjoying the good parts of touring - taking in the scenery, my band, the live music scene. That's my favorite thing to do."
We follow her story and learn how she began performing at a very young age and how her love for music and stage progressed. How did she accomplish so much by age 28? She mentions, "I actually speak out and write down goals every day. Whether the actual goal comes true or not, I know my destination."
"You just have to do what what you feel is right in your heart. And that's exactly what I'm doing when I'm on the road and when I'm being inspired with my band."
Not everything in life is easy or runs smoothly, exactly how we predicted. We all struggle at times, but what gets us through? Madelyn has some great words of wisdom, "Sometimes I get down due to negative negativity around me, but for the majority of the time, you have to have a "bulletproof mindset". You have to choose to ignore the negativity around you, the negative people, and just stay true to who you are."

Today's guest is quite inspirational - she has a goal of building community, a world that works for everyone, while maintaining the highest integrity, ethics, authenticity and respect for all. Deborah Loesch Griffin is the Founder and Owner of Turning Point, where she brings her expertise from many years of counseling, nonprofit management, youth development and cross-cultural project work.
Her interview explores the ideas behind success, authenticity, commitment and growth. "I'm a learner at heart, so my work is defined by also being a learner of what others are doing and thinking and how I can enrich that."
Deb gives us a great piece of advice, "Don't try to hold onto something that no longer fits. Ask yourself, what are my gifts, what is it that I'm good at? What am I not really good at, or not passionate about? Stop trying to adapt or find approval if it truly isn't the right situation." Be committed to ongoing growth for yourself.
How does she define success? "Success is showing up the best I can and honoring that. It's being the best I can be at any moment, being authentic in that. To be authentic for me requires a level of commitment to self reflection, self analysis, knowing who I am and that, that will change."

In this episode, Ed shares his life experiences through storytelling. One of his many insights is "you have to learn how to not be concerned about other people's opinions or other people's judgments. Don't let the trolls, or what you think someone might say about you stop you from your job or your position or your dream or your aspiration."
Through all his success, what is one piece of advice Ed offers? "Don't go solo. Find a mentor. Find someone who's already doing what you like. it's up to you to ask. Einstein had a concept called folding time. Typically we think of time as linear - to get from here to there, it takes a certain amount of time. Folding time is basically how much can you get done in a shorter period of time. Coaches help you get there faster, as opposed to you doing it yourself."

During this interview, Otakara Klettke speaks with us about her experiences as an international bestselling author of Hear Your Body Whisper; How to Unlock Your Self-Healing Mechanism, and children’s book series Detective Bella Unleashed. She is passionate about anything from nature, whether it’s a human, animal, or the whole universe, and often talks about these subjects as a guest on podcasts or radio. She is an avid supporter of eco-friendly life and education, fascinated by scientific studies and what they come up with, and an incurable traveler.
When asked about challenges in writing her first book, she said, "There was really nothing left for me to lose, nobody really knew about me, so it was not like if I failed the whole world would be completely disappointed. I told myself it's okay if I screw up. It's okay if it's not perfect. The main goal is to just show my own self that I can do it."
"My huge transformation wasn't just in writing the book. It was the entire journey. I looked at a goal, to bring it to life and I commited to it. I got up every single day, extra early and I got a discipline that I don't think I ever had in my life."
"In order to be successful, the important part is to experience the failure. For me, it was to know that my English is not good enough and to be okay with that. A lot of times we are afraid of something that might happen. Once I wrote a whole book, it wasn't such a big deal. Sometimes your weakness is your strength."

Regarding her career, she says, "I've wandered broadly, sort of towards the public health aspect of seeing not just helping individuals one on one, but also helping communities and helping shape the bigger picture, including policy and things that have a greater impact."
