On the biggest stage in basketball, in New York City, Illinois pulled off a massive comeback upset win over #2 Texas 85-78 in overtime. Craig Choate and Logan Lee discuss in this Illini Postgame Show from No One Asked Us.

The Illini were paced by Matthew Mayer early on, scoring 15 points in the first half on the way to a regular season career high 21. Illinois was behind by ten with eight minutes left in the game, and down five with under a minutes left, but still forced overtime. In the extra frame Terrence Shannon caught fire and scored 12 of his 16 points.

It’s back to Big Ten play for Illinois on Saturday, hosting Penn State for a matinee. It’s an 11:00 CT/Noon ET tip from the State Farm Center on BTN.

For the first time since 2007, Illinois Football will play in a January Bowl Game. The Illini draw #22 Mississippi State in the ReliaQuest Bowl, formerly known as the Outback Bowl. It’s the first time since 1999 that Illinois will play their bowl game in Florida. Logan Lee and Craig Choate give their thoughts in this episode of No One Asked Us.

In their first true road test of the season, the Illini fight but fall 71-66 to Maryland on Friday night. Craig Choate and Logan Lee discuss in this Illini Postgame Show from No One Asked Us.

Illinois jumped out to a 14-11 lead at the first media timeout of the game, but the Terrapins went on a 17-2 run from there to lead by 12. The teams traded runs from there until Illinois finally climbed back to tie the game at 62 at the final media timeout. But Maryland was able to stave off the final Illini push and hold on for the win.

It doesn’t get any easier for Illinois (6-2, 0-1) as they now travel to New York City to take on #2 Texas in the Jimmy V Classic on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. That’s a 7:00 ET/6:00 CT start on ESPN.

Hawkins joins Mark Smith, Sergio McClain, and Ayo Dosunmu (twice) as the only players to complete the feat. Hawkins scored 15 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished 10 assists. Illinois controlled nearly the entire game to seal the win.

For the second week in a row, with a chance to all but clinch the Big Ten West, Illinois football was unable to grab the opportunity. This week it was a 31-24 loss to Purdue. Illinois look good early with two Chase Brown touchdown runs, but a late first half touchdown for the Boilermakers halted any momentum for Illinois. The Illini are now 7-3 overall and in a four-way tie for the lead in the West at 4-3. Logan Lee and Craig Choate give their thoughts in this episode of No One Asked Us.

Illinois travels to Michigan on Saturday for a 11:00 a.m. CT/Noon ET kick-off on ABC.

Illinois basketball took care of business twice in the opening week to start the year 2-0 with wins over Eastern Illinois and Kansas City.
