Craig Choate and Logan Lee return to the mic with another episode of No One Asked Us.

Can anyone make sense of the MLB Trade Deadline? The guys do their best to analyze the moves the Cardinals and Cubs made, or didn’t make. Part of that is St. Louis missing out on right fielder Juan Soto. The Cardinals did add left handed pitchers Jose Quintana and Jordan Montgomery. What does Craig think of his teams moves?

The Cubs, while making some small moves, held on to two guys everyone thought were for sure getting traded in Willson Contreras and Ian Happ. Now Logan wants the Cubs to sign the catcher long-term.

The NFL handed down their punishment for the Miami Dolphins for tampering, but found that there was no evidence of tanking. The Dolphins, according to the report, made contact with Tom Brady on multiple occasions while he was under contract with other clubs. They also had communication with Sean Payton’s team before he announced his retirement.

The NBA lost a legend this weekend in Bill Russell. The guys talk about his impact on the game of basketball.

Illinois football opened training camp this weekend. Not much news, other than QB Samari Collier announcing he is entering the transfer portal.

For the first time this season, Craig and Logan discuss Big Brother 24. Logan watched The Gray Man and Craig started a new tv series, The Terminal List.

Illinois finds another puzzle piece in the transfer portal as Baylor transfer Matthew Mayer commits to Brad Underwood and the Illini. Craig Choate and Logan Lee react to the news in an Illini Special episode from No One Asked Us.

Mayer spent four years at Baylor where he averaged 6.9 points and 3.2 rebounds for his career. He The 6’9 forward started all 33 games for the Bears in 2022 and averaged a career high 9.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. He played double-digit minutes in all but one game for Baylor during their national championship season in 2021, that included a 82-69 win over Illinois where Mayer scored 7 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.

Mayer joins Texas Tech transfer Terrence Shannon as former Big 12 standouts to take their talents north to the Big Ten. Mayer also joins former Baylor teammate Dain Dainja on the Illini roster. Illinois once returns three players that played significant minutes for the Illini last season in Coleman Hawkins, RJ Melendez, and Luke Goode.

The Illini still have two open scholarships for the upcoming season. The roster could use another big man down low and a lead guard. Brad Underwood has also mentioned leaving one of those scholarships open for the potential addition of a mid-year transfer, like Dainja last season.
