  • Super Penguin, Moon Knight, and 2022 Summer Movie Preview

We have a very special episode of No One Asked Us today as Logan is joined by a good friend of his, Rob Witzel. Rob is a native of Danville, IL and, as of very recently, is a published author! Rob’s new book, Super Penguin, is the story of a seemingly average penguin working as a sports reporter that gets tangled up in a major crime investigation and becomes “Super Penguin”! Rob tells Logan all about how this story came to be and about the process of getting his book out there for the masses.

Then, Logan and Rob talk about Moon Knight and preview some of the summer’s upcoming blockbuster films, including Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Lightyear, and Elvis.

More info on Super Penguin, including where to order your copy, here: www.superpenguinbook.com

  • Kofi Cockburn turns pro, ending Illini career

Illinois center Kofi Cockburn has made his decision. The big man is calling an end to his college career and headed to the pros. Cockburn officially announced he is entering his name in the NBA Draft for the third time, meaning he cannot withdraw his name and his time at Illinois is complete. Craig Choate and Logan Lee react to the news in an Illini Special episode of the season from No One Asked Us.

Cockburn scored 1,546 points in his Illinois career. His 17.2 points per game for his career are the 9th best all-time at Illinois, while his 20.9 average in 2022 is the 10th best single season average of all-time. He also pulled down 861 rebounds in his career, that puts him in 3rd all-time for career rebounds at Illinois. His 45 career double-double are the most for any Illini.

While at Illinois, Cockburn went 44-16 in the Big Ten. The most amazing stat of his three year career is the fact that Kofi never lost to Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Penn State, Nebraska, and Northwestern. Ever. He went 28-0 against those six Big Ten opponents.

Kofi Cockburn will go down as the best center in Illinois basketball history.

Other Illini basketball notes include Brandin Podziemski entering his name in the transfer portal, Andre Curbelo announcing his commitment to St. John’s after transferring from Illinois, and ZZ Clark (younger brother of Skyy Clark) committing to Illinois in the Class of 2024.

  • Skyy Clark Fills Hole in Illini Backcourt (Ep062)

Illinois men’s basketball picked up a HUGE commitment from 5-star guard Skyy Clark last week! He fills one hole in the Illini backcourt that needs replacements for four of their key guards from last season’s team. While one guard chose Illinois, another target did not as LSU transfer Brandon Murray takes his game to Georgetown instead of Illinois or Tennessee. Craig Choate and Logan Lee react to the decisions and look ahead at what else needs to be done to complete the Illini roster.

Former Illinois defensive end Whitney Mercilus has announced his retirement from the NFL after 10 season, nine and a half of those for the Houston Texans. Mercilus was an All-American for Illinois in 2011 and was drafted int he first round of the 2012 NFL draft.

The NBA Playoffs start on Tuesday with the play-in tournament. Craig and Logan break down some of the matchups and give their predictions on conference and Finals winners. Also, how will the Chicago Bulls fare in their first round match-up with the Milwaukee Bucks? Let’s just say neither host is confident in the Bulls.

The MLB season is underway. Both the Cardinals and the Cubs won their opening weekend series over division rivals. The guys breakdown what they saw and how they feel about their teams. Then Logan talks about all the reasons he will not be buying MLB The Show 22 until they fix franchise mode.

Craig busted out his Tiger Woods shirt that he’s had in his closet for more than a year because Tiger made the cut at The Masters over the weekend. Woods was never really in contention but was able to play all 72 holes only 14 months after a serious car accident. What did Craig think of the weekend? How hot is Scottie Scheffler right now?

In our movies & tv segment, Logan reviews Everything Everywhere All At Once. Worth going to a theater to check out? Logan tells you.

All that and much much more in episode 62, the final episode of Season One!

Illinois also lost another player to the transfer portal this week as Omar Payne begins looking for somewhere else to play his college career.

  • The Illini Offseason Has Officially Begun (Ep060)

Craig is on vacation this week so the plan was to take the week off. That all changed when a crazy 24 hours happened and we couldn’t help but jump on here to talk about it.

Illini point guard Andre Curbelo officially added his name to the transfer portal today. Craig and Logan talk about his career in the orange and blue, reminisce on both the good and the bad, and talk about what his future might hold. They then give a few other names to keep an eye out for as the Illini hoops off-season gets underway.

It’s a rather ho-hum Final Four as Kansas, Villanova, Duke, and North Carolina will be fighting it out in New Orleans for the National Championship. The guys talk about the matchups and give their championship picks. Plus, Craig doesn’t think that Cinderella teams belong in the Elite Eight – Do you agree?

Craig gets excited that Albert Pujols will be wearing a St. Louis Cardinals uniform once again. Logan warns him that reunions like this aren’t always all fun and games.

Lastly the madness of March leaked into Hollywood on Sunday during the 94th Academy Awards. Logan is excited that CODA won Best Picture but the guys talk about the night’s hottest topic, the altercation between Will Smith and Chris Rock.

  • Brad Underwood Didn't Take The Kansas State Job? (Ep059)

There’s been just a plethora of things to talk about since we’ve last seen you! So this one is a little big of a longer episode!

Craig Choate and Logan Lee breakdown the first weekend of the NCAA tournament! Illinois is out after falling in the Round of 32, six of the top 16 seed got bounced before the Sweet 16, and we’ve got another 15-seed in the Sweet 16. How are the guys brackets looking? We go over that and make changes to our Final Four.

The college basketball coaching carousel has been spinning for a couple weeks. Who ended up where and what do our hosts think of some of the hires? Jerome Tang, not Brad Underwood, takes over Kansas State. Louisville gets their man in Kenny Payne. Kevin Williams jumps from the Big East to the Big Ten. Six new coaches in the SEC including Chris Jans, Dennis Gates, Matt McMahon, and Todd Golden. Plus Mike White switches SEC schools.

Illinois women’s basketball has their new head coach as Shauna Green takes over for Nancy Fahey. Green comes from Dayton where she spent 6 seasons and took the Flyers to 4 NCAA tournaments.

Chris Tamas also received a 5 year extension for Illinois volleyball.

Illini football got a big boost with Kaden Feagin committed to Illinois on Wednesday. Feagin is a running back and linebacker at Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond High School, only a short drive from Champaign. He’s a top-250 recruit in the class of 2023 and the first commit for Illinois in that class. Craig and Logan talk about what his decision means and how impressed they are with Bret Bielema’s recruiting efforts so far.

The NFL and the MLB have been bonkers over the last week with trades and free agent signings. The guys break down the NFL moves of Deshaun Watson, Davante Adams, and Tyreek Hill. Then talk about the MLB moves of Kris Bryant, Kyle Schwarber, and the rest of the Cardinals and Cubs moves.
