After capturing a share of the Big Ten regular season title on Sunday, Illinois’ trip to Indianapolis for the B1G Tourney was cut short at the hands of Indiana on Friday after a 65-63 loss. Illinois couldn’t hit their shots and consistently missed free throws on their way to the upset. Craig Choate and Logan Lee are distraught in this Illini Postgame Show from No One Asked Us.

Illinois will learn their NCAA tournament fate on Sunday at 6:00 ET during the Selection Show following the B1G Tourney championship. Bracketologists had the Illini anywhere from a 3-seed to a 5-seed before Friday’s loss.

It’s the first regular season title for the Illini since 2005. It wasn’t pretty but the #20 Fighting Illini escaped Thursday night with a win against a pesky Penn State squad, 60-55 at State Farm Center in Champaign. Illinois struggled to get much offense going but they did get a very welcomed boost from Da’Monte Williams and his 14 points (12 of them on 3s). Craig Choate was at the game tonight and talked with Logan Lee about the atmosphere in Champaign.

With the win, Illinois improves to 21-8 on the season and 14-5 in Big Ten play. The win also guarantees that they will get the much-coveted double-bye in next week’s Big Ten Tournament. A win in Sunday’s regular season finale against Iowa paired with a Wisconsin loss to Nebraska (also on Sunday) would give the Illini a share of the Big Ten regular season title. Either way, Illinois can’t fall to lower than third in the B1G Tournament seedings.

Coming off a home loss on Thursday night, #15 Illinois never trailed on Sunday on the road in Ann Arbor beating Michigan 93-85. The Illini had a 15 point lead with less than ten minutes to go in the game, the Wolverines made a run from there to get it to 82-80. Illinois curtailed that run with a huge Trent Frazier 3 with 4 seconds left to make it 87-80 and seal the win.
