We are continuing in our series on the The Best Sermon Ever - Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. In this episode we look at Matthew 6:19 - 21 where Jesus talks about storing our treasure up on earth vs. storing our treasure up in Heaven. Is it wrong for a Christian to have wealth? Is it wrong for a Christian to have money, stocks, and other valuables put away for retirement or for a rainy day? Instead, is it more virtuous to give away our material possessions as Jesus told the rich, young ruler to do, and to live modestly? Tune in and find out!

We are in the middle of our series, The Best Sermon Ever, the Sermon on the Mount, found in the book of Matthew. Today, we are going to look at Matthew chapter 6, verses 5 – 18, which deals with prayer, and more specifically, The Lord’s Prayer.
Prayer seems like a pretty simple subject. If you are a Christian, you pray! But is there a wrong way to pray? On the flip side, is there right way to pray? And if God is sovereign over every, single thing, why do we even need to pray? If God is unchangeable, does prayer even change things? In this episode, we will look at how Jesus answers these and other questions.

Why do people give? What motivates unbelievers to relinquish their material wealth, resources, time, or even their organs for the good of others? What motivates believers to give? Are the motivations the same? Should they be the same? In continuing in the Sermon on the Mount, in this episode, we look at what Jesus has to say about giving.

In this episode, Don't Believe Everything You Hear, we look at the section of the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus takes the teachings of the Pharisees and says, “You have heard it said,” or in other words “this is what the Pharisees have taught  you” and He follows each one of these statements up with a “but I say …” The Pharisees thought they were keeping the Law well enough to merit salvation, but Jesus is going to show the true meaning of the Law -  by explaining how all-encompassing they were meant to be. Jesus tells them these things with authority - because He is the Law giver!

Driving over the speed limit is breaking the law.  All of us know that, but most of us do it anyway. We justify to ourselves by thinking “everyone does it,” or by thinking that “someone” made a mistake on what the speed limit should be on certain stretches of road that clearly could be driven safely at a faster speed. We speed, hoping that we don’t get caught, and hoping when we do that we’ll only get a warning. When we get caught, all we really want is someone to take away the penalty and repercussions of what we’ve done so we can move on with our lives, just as before.

Some of the people listening to the Sermon on the Mount, maybe even some of Jesus’ disciples, were the same way. There were people there who would have wanted Jesus to lessen the requirements of the law. They wanted their own rules, not someone else’s, Who in this case was God! Join us in this episode, Jesus Came on a Mission, as we delve into what Jesus did come to say about the Law!
