In this sermon, we continue our journey through Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians by looking at chapter 4, verses 13-18. In this first of several sermons on the subject of Christ's return, we will see how Paul addresses the question of the Christians who have died since Paul's departure. Have they missed out on the hope of glory- Paul will explain to them that, at Christ's return, all of His people, the living and the dead, shall be called up to meet Him in the air.

This message tackles the idea of living in an age of social and spiritual confusion. It looks at a divergence from sound paths as an evidence that judgment is already underway.

This message covers Psalm 51 as well as the story of Nathan's confrontation with King David in II Samuel 12. We will be looking at David's stirring Psalm of repentance.

In today's sermon, we return to the first chapter of this letter to look at the -living and true- God. It is this God that Paul contrasts with the idols which the Thessalonians had once worshiped. While those idols were dead, counterfeit, mute, and worthless, the God they now serve is true, living, has spoken, and is worthy of all praise and glory- Amen-

Today's sermon covers the first two verses of the fourth chapter of Paul's First letter to the Thessalonian church. In these two verses, the apostle lays the groundwork for a lengthy discussion on sanctification. The challenge that Paul gives to the Thessalonians is to continue in what they are already faithfully doing, abounding more and more in those things. Such a walk of faith is pleasing to God.

As we continue our journey through the Old Testament references to the advent of Christ, we turn to the prophet Zechariah. Here, in the fourth chapter of his prophecy, we find the promise of the Lord that the Temple shall be completed by the power of the Spirit. No obstacle shall derail this work, nor would the attitude of the people who had despised the day of small things. It is easy for the people of God to become weary or dismissive of small things, but it is often how our God chooses to work. This is especially evident in the Christmas story.

This sermon serves as an introduction to our sermon series in Paul's First Letter to the Thessalonians. Today, we will look at some of the background details, particularly those presented in The Acts of he Apostles. Additionally, we will see that Paul's hope for the work in Macedonia rested upon his trust in the providence of almighty God.

Just as the multitude of the crowd at the Triumphal entry were cheering and receiving a Jesus different than the Savior that was actually before them, so I fear many today are trusting in a Jesus other than the Biblical Jesus. Any other Jesus is insufficient to save man from the wrath to come.

As we continue through the Christmas Promises of the Old Testament, we come to the promise of a Messianic Priest who comes from a mysterious priesthood. In order to see David's reference in Psalm 110, we will look back to Genesis 14 and the mysterious encounter between Abram and Melchizedek- the King of Salem and a Priest of the most high God- This history points directly to the greatness of Christ and to the perfection of His work-

God has instructed His prophet of the two classifications of man- the proud who are not upright and the just who live by faith. Tonight, we will see that God declares five woes of judgment upon the proud. The proud may seem to prosper in the moment, but their wealth, power, and glory will fade to weakness and shame before our righteous Judge and King. These woes shall fall upon all those who fail to trust in Christ, trusting instead in themselves to their own shame and destruction.
