The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a teenage girl reported that a man was trying to lure her younger sister into a van at a Racetrack Road convenience store Wednesday. The teen was at the Circle K near Pryor Middle School to pick up her 12-year-old sister around 2:30 p.m. when she saw a white male standing near an unmarked white utility van appearing to try to coerce her sister into his vehicle.

Two local restaurants from famed cooking show host Paula Deen closed this week, less than a year after opening.Both the Panama City Beach and Destin locations of Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen announced they were closing on Monday.Destin Commons management posted a sign in the window of the restaurant referring all questions about the closings to Phoenix Hospitality & Entertainment, the licensing partner in the restaurants with Paula Deen Ventures.

According to a press release from the Fort Walton Beach Police Department, officers responded to the burglary at a home on Hollywood Boulevard on Nov. 6.As David Starks, who is 49, entered the home through an “open large dog door,” a woman inside was able to lock herself in a bedroom until officers arrived, the release said.Starks admitted to entering the house and taking the guitars, which were located by a backyard fence and returned to the owner.FWBPD reported that Starks was also identified as a suspect in another burglary case, which is being investigated. He was charged with burglary to an occupied structure, the release said.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate non-fatal stabbings.The latest took place around 8 p.m. Sunday night on Cypress Street near Fort Walton Beach.Deputies responded to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in connection to the arrival of a 16-year old brought in by his mother with a stab wound to the abdomen. His mother said the victim had called and asked her to pick him up around 8 p.m. near Lovejoy Road.Doctors say the wound is not life-threatening.Another stabbing was reported Nov. 1 near Crestview.The 23-year old victim in that case says he had gone to a home on Chambray Road to pick up a friend when he got into an argument with another man.He said as he turned to walk away, the man stabbed him in the back with a knife. He was taken to North Okaloosa Medical Center for treatment.Updated information on the stabbings, which are not connected, will be provided at a later time.
