NWP welcomes writer, producer and director Brian Nunes.

His award winning film "Find Your Way"  is a discussion of how we define success - both culturally and personally. It examines the way we create value based on context and challenges audiences to think deeper about how they consume culture.   http://www.worldtreefilms.com/wtfilms/desktop.htm

Born and raised in Houston, TX, Brian spent his young professional years in Information Technology - something he was good at but eventually got bored with. Living in Austin after college, he could no longer stand his network management job and sold everything to travel the country busking and pondering life.

In Seattle, Brian began producing film and television, utilizing a film studies background from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a natural ability for storytelling. After discovering a colorful street culture, he started documenting buskers at the Pike Place Market and eventually finished a 97 minute feature documentary on the subject.

NWP welcomes Emily West! With a standing ovation and four yes's from the judges, Emily is moving on to the Semi-finals of America's Got Talent 2014!

Emily moved to Nashville at 18 and had minor success as a country music artist. She packed a bag for New York 4 months ago to try to hear herself think and reinvent herself. She wanted a clean slate. A do-over.

Emily's dream is to tell stories through songs in a theatre. Making the crowd nervous in a 'one woman show she creates.

'I'm a Jessica Rabbit/Tom Waits kinda-something. I love hearingbeautiful melodies telling me horrible things. I wear my heart on my sleeve. Judy, Barbara, Patsy, Rufus Wainwright, Antony & the Johnson's. I love to interpret a song. I love to sing stories. I love New York and I don't want to leave. Sandwiches are so expensive.'

Watch for my audition on season 9 of America's Got Talent! #TurnUpTheTalent  https://www.facebook.com/emilywest?fref=ts

NWP Welcomes David Wertheimer. Mr. Wertheirmer oversees the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on family homelessness. David is also the board chair for @funderstogether and he joins us today on behalf of the Gates Foundation to discuss this issue and what we can do to make a difference. http://www.gatesfoundation.org

Our friend and co-trustee Warren Buffett once gave us some great advice about philanthropy: “Don’t just go for safe projects,” he said. “Take on the really tough problems.”

We couldn’t agree more. Our foundation is teaming up with partners around the world to take on some tough challenges: extreme poverty and poor health in developing countries, and the failures of America’s education system. We focus on only a few issues because we think that’s the best way to have great impact, and we focus on these issues in particular because we think they are the biggest barriers that prevent people from making the most of their lives.

We’re both optimists. We believe by doing these things—focusing on a few big goals and working with our partners on innovative solutions—we can help every person get the chance to live a healthy, productive life.
