NWP welcome Morgan & Jennifer Locklear, romance authors with a unique family story:

Their son was nearing the end of 8th grade. While on vacation, he seemed out of sorts.This young teen slept a lot, didn’t have energy or interest in suggested family activities and began feeling ill. Parents assumed he had contracted food poisoning and began treating it as such. At about three o’clock in the morning, this familys world changed forever.  Young Locklear woke up extremely ill and nothing the parents tried to do for him helped and they watched his condition deteriorate rapidly and by sunrise they knew he needed emergency medical attention. 

Type 1 Diabetes. Once the urgent need to stabilize his condition receded, the family spent a week at the hospital learning how to take care of their son under this new reality. The Locklear family is moving foward with life by showing their kids how to follow their dreams, by example.  With their debut romance novel "Exposure", this husband and wife team has a found a way to laugh and live with their heart!

Shelley Boris talks about her new book, Fresh Cooking: A Year of Recipes from the Garrison Institute Kitchen

Built around meals Shelley Boris created for the Garrison Institute, a retreat center in New York's Hudson Valley, it contains thirty-six menus, with four to five delicious recipes in each, organized by month. 

Shelley has published recipes in various journals and books, including the New York Times and Food & Wine Magazine, Recipes From America’s Small Farms, and co-wrote The International Mail Order Gourmet, a food guide. Since forming Fresh Company Shelley has cooked for such personalities as the Dalai Lama and Mikhail Gorbachev. Morgan and Jennifer Locklear met in 1989 as teenagers and became high school sweethearts.  They have been married since 1995 and live in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States with their two children, a son and daughter.

T.M. Franklin started out her career writing non-fiction in a television newsroom. Graduating with a B.A. in Communications specializing in broadcast journalism and production, she worked for nine years as a major market television news producer, and garnered two regional Emmy Awards, before she resigned to be a full-time mom and part-time freelance writer. Ken Jennings was born just outside Seattle, Washington, but grew up overseas. His family spent fifteen years in Korea and Singapore, where his father worked as an attorney. His only lifeline to American pop culture during those years was TV on the Armed Forces Network, where he watched Jeopardy! religiously after school every afternoon.

At BYU, Ken captained the university's successful quiz bowl team & began writing/editing questions for National Academic Quiz Tournaments, a company that organizes quiz competitions attended by hundreds of colleges and thousands of high schools nationwide. Ken began to notice a parade of his friends and acquaintances from the world of quiz bowl appearing on game shows where many were able to pay off their student loans and buy flashy sports cars. With this in mind, Ken began to revive his childhood dream of appearing onJeopardy!

Much to his surprise, Ken's Jeopardy! appearance extended far beyond a single game: he took advantage of a recent rule change allowing returning champs to appear on the show indefinitely, and spent the next six months hogging America's TV screens. Before losing on the November 30 show because he didn't know enough trivia about H&R Block, Ken won 74 games and $2.52 million, both American game show records.

Joyfield is a Seattle based indie pop band that has been together for 5 years. The band has been told they sound like a mix between Joy Formidable and Metric. Ellie (Vocal/keys), Michael (guitar), and Karris (drums) met in college. In 2013 Joyfield added Sean (bass) and the band has spent the last year reworking their style and developing a new sound. Joyfield has been steadily making a name for themselves and recently won Seattle's Hard Rock Rising 2014 Battle of the Bands.
