Working remotely in Italy or living the digital nomad lifestyle anywhere can be wonderful, but it's also worthwhile considering the challenges that can come along with it. In this expat podcast episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter, we'll go over some digital nomad lifestyle tips and pointers that can help to keep a realistic idea of some of the most important aspects of living abroad and working remotely abroad. I often receive questions from people who want to work in Italy or live in Italy and be able to work remotely and enjoying living abroad... so I thought why not talk a bit more about this subject. But where is the best place to be a digital nomad? Where is the best location for remote work? That's another episode for another day 😉

Lockdown Italy 2021 and going back into lockdown as well as the covid-tested flights that Delta and Al Italia will be testing is what we will discuss in this expat podcast episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter and I will do my best to answer a common question I've been receiving over the past year... 'is it possible to travel to Italy now'. I will also talk about the reality of what traveling to Italy during Covid might look like for the time being and my personal take on the current situation here living in Italy as an expat and dual Italian citizen.

Traveling around Italy after lockdown is something I've been thinking about a lot recently. Given the current situation, it's been a pleasant yet frustrating diversion to ponder. I often receive questions about traveling to Italy, especially for recommendations of where to go. In this expat podcast episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter, we'll go over some of the places that I would like to visit, and what I might recommend if I were to visit Italy. As someone who can say 'I live in Italy'.... Living in a favela of Rio de Janeiro and talking about expat life in Brazil is what we will be discussing in this expat podcast episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter hosted by Rafael Di Furia (@RafaelDiFuria) with special guest Henry 'Rio' Montalto aka @experience.rio on Instagram. Henry is an American who moved to Brazil and made Rio de Janeiro his home in the Vidigal community, one of the most famous Brazilian 'slums'. Henry has made a full life for himself in Rio and lives there with his Brazilian wife and their son and works as a tour guide showing the 'real' Rio. Living abroad and expat life come with their own challenges, but living in brazil as an expat in one of the favelas in Rio de Janeiro comes with a number of other challenges... but are they worth it? What are the pros and cons of living in Brazil? In the future, I look forward to talking with more people who are living in Brazil as a foreigner and to talk more about moving to Brazil.

Living in Italy has changed me in more ways than one. In this expat podcast episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter, I'll go into just some of the ways life in Italy has made a difference for me. Moving to Italy was the start of an adventure that I never could have imagined, even after having moved abroad a number of years before arriving in Italy. Moving abroad is a unique way of learning more about yourself and finding out what your boundaries are. The many challenges you face as an expat or even specifically as an expat in Italy, will make you look at new aspects of yourself and your life, all of which can allow you to grow in a number of different ways. Expat life in Italy is a combination of valuable learning experiences and challenges, but at the end of the day, it's all about how you can take advantage of every moment while living abroad.

In this expat podcast episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter, I wanted to talk about whyI love Italy, and why I love to live in Italy and feel blessed to be able to call it my home. Living in Italy has changed the way I look at many aspects of life and how I look back on life in the USA. Life in Italy vs USA is one of the purest forms of comparing apples and oranges, but nonetheless, I do feel as though it's important to highlight some of these differences. Expat life in Italy does come with challenges and in this expat podcast episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter, I wanted to highlight some of the aspects that can really make those challenging moments living abroad worthwhile. Is becoming an expat in Italy worth it? Should you move to Italy? I sure think it can be great and in this episode, you'll hear why.

Unfortunately, so many expat problems can come from miscommunication. In this expat podcast episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter, we will discuss how important it is to know your 'audience' as an expat living abroad. In your expat life, you will cross paths with many different kinds of individuals. It's important to know what topics and subjects are worth discussing and which ones may be worth holding back. From my experience as an American living abroad, I've come to realize that based on my country of origin, there are individuals that will discount my contribution to a conversation, giving a simple reason starting with words such as "Yeah, but you Americans are..." Even as an American in Italy, even more so as an Italian American in Italy... and even more so as an Italian American in Italy with Italian citizenship by descent, there will be those individuals who will never see a person who isn't born and raised Italy as an Italian because, from their perspective and understanding of the world, that simply can't be. Of course, regardless of your location, communication is always key. But is it always necessary... and is less more?

In this episode, I'll go over some prices you might be able to expect and I will also talk about some background information regarding utility bills in Italy, rent in Italy, and the cost of food in Italy. For the individuals thinking about living in Italy, it's worthwhile considering what life in Italy can cost before making the move to Italy.
