July 31, 2024S1 E14: Four Under Two with Laura JacobsLaura is the only person that we know who has four kids under two. That's right, she became a mom of four in the past two years by giving birth to two sets of twins. And unlike so many twin moms in our country, Laura had all of her babies vaginally. When her first doctor indicated that a twin pregnancy meant an automatic c-section, she began her search for a doctor who was skilled and confident enough to offer her the option of a vaginal birth for both of her pregnancies. Aside from carrying two babies, she also struggled with Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) during both pregnancies. This episode is filled with so much interesting information about twin mom life, overcoming extreme morning sickness and advocating for yourself even when you’re considered a high-risk pregnancy and birthNotes on Arrival is a podcast for women to share their pregnancy and birth experiences. July 17, 2024S1 E13: Why Doesn’t Every Woman Do This? with Natalie Black-CarboneDuring Natalie’s 8 week OB appointment, the care providers said if they couldn’t find a heartbeat the following week, she should schedule a DNC to end the pregnancy. Natalie switched to midwives at a birth center, who empowered her and brought excitement to her birth planning. Natalie has so much incredible advice about how to ask the right questions, what pelvic floor PT can do for new moms and how to increase your chances of an unmedicated birth. May 08, 2024S1 E6: The Great Mystery of my Life with Sophia MedinaBirthing in a hospital is something that never occurred to Sophia. She viewed birth as a biological event, something her body would do best at home in a calm and private setting. But when her first labor was going on day 5, her midwife discovered that the baby's position was not what they had thought. After getting to the hospital, an ultrasound showed that her baby was breech and immediately had a c-section. Years later and after becoming a certified doula, Sophia had her second child at home like she had always wanted, but learned that no matter where or how you birth, there is no easy way out.
