I’m so excited to introduce you to our guest today, William Patterson. William is the Director of Public Affairs with PCOS Challenge, the National Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Association.
In today’s episode, William shares the importance of the PCOS Challenge and its accomplishments in advocacy for patients, care, and education in legislation. Next, he shares how they have been able to work with the NIH to improve PCOS research to include more than just reproduction, but also now about other side effects such as endometrial cancer, long term risks, and environmental factors. William then shares the importance of PCOS Challenge to get patients connected to resourceful and educated healthcare professionals, because medical weight bias is so prevalent. PCOS Challenge is also hard at work on new medication treatment options for PCOS, and William gives an update on this.
