  • Unicorn Blood, You're Welcome [dystopia]
    We discuss dystopia in literature.
What did we settle on? Hunger Games, nah. Insurgent, nope...
As promised, 'Why Unicorns do not Exist', a nifty little French short that explains all...http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x34hyix

  • Operation:Mindcrime of the Century [dystopia]
If you haven't figured it out yet, we like metal...
There are quite a few bands and songs that fit into the 'Dystopian' category, but we like one better than all the rest.
    Show Notes:
1- Save your breath. We know what the hell 'Sludge' metal is. We just don't care for the term. Deal with it.
But do feel free to leave us other comments or give us a shout on Twitter or Facebook. We'd like to get your feedback! - Josh & JD
P.S. - We promise to stop ragging on Cleveland before she develops a complex...

  • For Whom The Saved By The Bell Tolls [robots]
Robot Week continues with TV day!
Whether it’s KITT, Rosie, Bender, or the Transformers, there's no shortage of fine examples of robots on the idiot box...but we chose none of those and instead we phone this episode in with the most ridiculous robot in any medium...
    Show Notes:
1 - Zoinks! It's F'ing Kevin from 'Saved by the Bell' folks... (What were we thinking?)
I'm guessing Screech didn't win the Nobel Prize for this masterpiece in robotic engineering because, clearly, it's a complete rip-off of Johnny 5 from 'Short Circuit. But I digress...
2 - 'Saved By The Bell' is on Netflix and if you feel the need to see Kevin in action (or more accurately, trying to get Screech some action), watch Season 1, Episode 10: "Beauty and the Screech". You'll be changed for the better...
3 - Tiffani Amber Thiessen was never in 'Baywatch'. Josh was wrong and it won't be the last time.
4 - Knight Rider 2000 (not 3000) was filmed in San Antonio. I told you Josh would be wrong again. Just didn't think it would be so soon. Maybe the best scene from Knight Rider 2000 will make up for it? It has James Doohan in it. As himself. Seriously. youtu.be/j_hTfu3h1y0
5 - Now Let's cleanse the palette. If you feel the need to dive deeper in the wonderful world of TV robots, Gawker.com has a great piece on the Icons of the small screen. Enjoy...goo.gl/Qj0YtC

We'd like to get your feedback! - Josh & J.D.
    Show Notes:
1 - "I, Robot: The Illustrated Screenplay" by Harlan Ellison
Some say is the best sci-fi movie never made. You decide.
2 - "Life. Loathe it or ignore it. You can't like it." - Marvin the Paranoid Android
Read 'The Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy' series by Douglas Adams for more Marvin.
3 - If you aren't depressed enough after all that...'I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream' by Harlan Ellison will get you there. It won a Hugo in 1968. So there's that.

    Show Notes:
1 - Robot vs Android vs Cyborg (Because you care about the subtleties)...
Robot: Autonomous, artificial entity. Its form has no bearing on its designation.
    Android: Humanoid robot.
Cyborg: Combines artificial and biological components.
2 - Mommy, where do robots come from?
Origin of the word - Robot http://www.sciencefriday.com/segment/04/22/2011/science-diction-the-origin-of-the-word-robot.html
