What do you think of when you think of your mother? Do you have fond memories? Do you feel safe? Secure? Many think of their mothers as a bastion of safety in an increasingly crazy world. But that's not the case for everyone. For some, the relationship they share with their mother is a complex one - fraught with pain and trauma that leaves them scarred for life.
That was certainly the case with my mother, who was a covert narcissist. This week, I'm going to take you on a journey into the heart of this relationship - as I share what it was like growing up with a mother who hurt you more than she helped you. We're going to explore what it means to be damaged by the "mother wound" and what it means to rebuild. This is not an episode you are going to want to miss. Raw. Powerful. This is the story of the year.

What It's All About
Trauma dumping is one of the most insidious relationship behaviors that no one likes to talk about. It plagues our friendships, our marriages, and even our closest family relationships. It destroys connections and destroys the sense of safety and support we seek in those we love. To dump your trauma, without permission, is the ultimate show of disrespect. And it's also a display of low emotional intelligence and selfish behavior.
Have you been a victim of trauma dumping? Does someone in your life use this tool to manipulate or control you? When we don't ask permission before unloading our pain on others, we can hurt them, create pain, and destroy the trust they have in us. This behavior isn't benign or "a part of being a friend". It's hurtful and emotional abusive. Set boundaries that protect yourself from trauma dumping in every form.

What It's All About
Childhood trauma encompasses experiences that shape you and change you forever. When you are emotionally, physically, or mentally abused, damaged, or terrorized in childhood it changes the way you see yourself and the cycles you set up for everything from your relationships to then career choices that you make. To understand our childhood trauma we have to pull back some serious layers. And that takes time, and a bit of discomfort too.
That's because childhood trauma damages your brain. But without the tools to counter that brain damage, you get left in the darkness with the inability to manage your life and your basic desires and functions. Want to improve your life? Want to put an end to the cycles of pain, self-flagellation, and resentment that are making you miserable? Looking at your childhood trauma archetype could carry many important clues.

What It's All About
This week we are breaking down enmeshment, and what it means when a family is too close. The fact of the matter is that enmeshment is a tool used by many toxic and abusive families. This behavior allows them to project a close and caring structure, but that's hardly the case behind closed doors. We'll explore that in this week's episode, as well as what we can do to recover from the affects of enmeshment in childhood.
There are a lot of consequences for those who are raised under the thumb of an enmeshed family. Lacking in autonomy and respect, you never learn how to set boundaries or stand up for yourself in any real way. This snowballs into toxic intimate relationships in adulthood, as well as an inability (and an unwillingness) to show up for yourself in those moments which matter most. To get the life you want, you must learn how to stand on your own and create space in the name of your needs and authenticity.

What It's All About
Covert narcissists. They are one of the most toxic and insidious personality type on the planet, but so many of us fail to see them in our own lives. Why? It's because the covert narcissist is someone who uses pity, emotional manipulation, and disaster in order to control their experiences and the people in their lives. They are the eternal victims; the friend who always needs to be rescued, and the partner who can't stand on their own.
The damage inflicted on our lives (and wellbeing) by the covert narcissist is infinitely more extreme than the damage done by overt and obvious narcissists. That's because the covert narcissist is a passive creature, who would rather use their manipulations beneath the cover of ignorance and darkness. The only effective way to protect yourself from this type of narcissist is by arming yourself in understanding and personal strength.

What It's All About
Bad relationships. We've all had at least one in our lifetime. For some of you, that relationship involved a partner who cheated endlessly; or a partner who disrespected you or ignored you. Others, however, had abusive, terrorizing, and soul-destroying partners who completely changed the way you saw the world and yourself. Recognizing a bad relationship and addressing it are two different things. And we're going to do both in this episode.
This week, we are going to break down terrible relationships. What actually makes a relationship bad? And when is a relationship worth saving and worth letting go? This is the ideal episode of anyone who's ever been through a nasty breakup, anyone who's been cheated on, and anyone who's been hurt by the partners they've invested in. Does this sound like you? Address the truth behind your bad relationships and you can find better ways to build on your love next time around.

What It's All About
Are you struggling to find a partner of value and substance? Do dating apps make you uncomfortable? Believe it or not, dating companies and couples alike are taking a different approach to dating and meeting the partners they desire. It's not all about instant sexual gratification anymore. People want to meet partners who are their equal, and partners who reflect their deeper values and goals. They don't want to increase their odds by playing a numbers game. And they certainly don't want to work through all the "frogs".
So what has brought about this massive shift in the dating consciousness? Why are so many people fatigued by swiping left and right? There are a lot of reasons we're slowing down and being more intentional in the way that we date. From our core desires to dramatic societal shifts inspired by COVID culture, there are so many reasons people like you are choosing to slow it down and take it easy when it comes to meeting someone new. Mindful dating is where it's at. But being more intentional is not always as straightforward as it sounds.
