 Footwashing is a tradition from the early church based on the practice and teaching of Jesus recorded in John’s Gospel. Some churches today even practice it as a sacrament, equal to Water Baptism and Communion. If we dare lean in and take a closer look at this awkward tradition, we might discover a truth worth the discomfort. 

Any belief that baptism serves only as an initiation into the church is dangerously ignorant. Jesus, Paul, and the Scriptures of the Old Testament all show us that water baptism, married with Spirit baptism, is the very portal through which we experience and walk in salvation.
