  • How Remote Work Led to Remote Ridiing
When Paul Rieger originally bought his Pedego Electric Bike, it was all about commuting to work.  But when his company shuttered their office and shifted to remote working, he never envisioned this would lead him to "remote riding" as well.
As Paul says with a smirk, "once my company closed down the office and I started working out of my upstairs home office. I found that the Boomerang didn't handle stairs so well. So I stopped using it for commuting and began exploring the 50+ miles of dedicated, paved bike trails that crisscrossed my hometown of Folsom, CA."
Including the 32 mile Jedediah Smith Bike Trail (named after that famed mountain man and discoverer) that runs along the American River down to Sacramento's Discovery Park.  A trail which he now regularly patrols 6-8 hours/week as an official member of the American River Bike Patrol.
So by working from home, Paul Rieger found the time to slow down and discover a whole new world around him.  A world this "boy on his bike" began exploring like the pioneers of old, who first travelled these trails in search of gold and a place they could call home.  Bringing that journey full circle, as a new breed of ebike enthusiasts and adventurers ride the trail again from their home offices in search of newfound riches, on this week's PEDEGO PODCAST.

  • Ep. 31: How to Promote Your Book on Twitter with Ray E. Boomhower
We are often asked about social media and which platform authors should be on. Lately, there have been a lot of questions about TikTok and our answer is usually along the lines of "it depends." Is your ideal audience on TikTok, Twitter, or LinkedIn? Is there a conversation already happening about your topic on Twitter? Have you engaged with and provided value to that community?
On this episode of the Pub Date Podcast we have editor, writer, and author Ray E. Boomhower share how he found his niche in books and community on Twitter. Ray is a big believer in not wasting anything. If you start down a path and end up taking a detour, don't trash that work. Instead, he says "cannibalize what you don't use [for your book or content] and use it on Twitter to promote what you're working on or have worked on."
We ask him to share his thoughts on the following:
How do you engage with your readers on social media?
What are your favorite Twitter tips, best practices?
Who are some of your favorite authors to engage with on social?
    About Our Guest

  • #245 NEW Lindsay Davis- Clues for a Meaningful and Memorable Life
Show Notes   Just about one month ago we did a show with one of my very favorite people, Creative Business and Performance Coach, Lindsay Davis. For those interested, that was show #238 on the very important subject of Detachment. It was all about how to emotionally detach from stress-inducing situations. As we neared the end of the episode, we realized that a follow-up session might be very helpful and offer clarity on a subject very dear to all of us: how do we discover our purpose in life. Now… this is a tricky discussion because there seems (to me) to be two kinds of purposes: One is that general purpose of simply being a good person (you know, with strong values and engaging relationships), but the second kind of purpose is frequently much more difficult to discover. And that is: What is YOUR Personal Purpose. That is what we will talk about today with Lindsay Davis—who has most helpful thoughts on how to discover “clues to making your life meaningful and memorable.”

  • How a man goes from being healthy, to a diabetic with an inoperable pancreatic cancer tumor to being stable.
Ken Parme, a husband, father, grandfather a man with many talents when asked how he wants to be remembered he replied very simply "as a kind man." Ken is a very kind, friendly, talented man who I've had the pleasure of knowing for a number of years.  It wasn't until he shared his journey with us that I realized how much we had in common in regards to our diagnosis.  In December 2012 Ken was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor.  The tumor was wrapped around his veins, and lying against his aorta.
Ken took good care of himself, ate right and was active. He was a power walker and one day on a walk with his wife Rebecca, he couldn’t keep up with her. Rebecca insisted he go see his doctor. Tests were done and Ken was told he was a diabetic and started on insulin immediately. After starting insulin, Ken still felt lousy, so his wife made an appointment with an endocrinologist. Ken, shares his journey starting with his diagnosis of an inoperable pancreatic cancer tumor, his treatment with chemotherapy, the use of the new Cyber-Knife, his eight years "stable status" and a book he and his wife wrote together. Ken and Rebecca Parme wrote a book “In The Gaze of The Divine, Life with Pancreatic Cancer.” from the patient/survivor and caregiver point of view. Available on Amazon.  Ken has also written a children's book available on Amazon “The Adventures of Madde Mckinsey
This episode of Living Hope is dedicated to Ken's wonderful, wife and Caregiver, Rebecca. We want to leave you with a quote from their book, “May we all get to the place where we can accept -let go- and focus on the blessing of the day.”

Meet Rand Sperry and hear how he helped build the company he co-founded, Sperry Van Ness, into a national commercial real estate brokerage.  And then how after selling his interest, Rand took on the new challenge of building two new important profit centers in his family of companies. Thru it all, he kept true to his faith and family.  Raising six kids (including daughter Keyleigh who just married Miles Teller, a co-star in Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick).  And serving on countless charitable boards like his longstanding work with WELLS OF LIFE.  While pursuing his love of travel that's now taken him to over 100 countries around the world.
