Odd Dad Out

Ever have one of those days where you're sure there was something you needed to do, but then you forget? That's me today. I know I had a topic planned for this week, but damnit if I didn't forget what it was. That there is the colander that is my brain. So we get to go on this mystery trip on my train of though together. But I do have some updates from last week's show, and a news segment packed with poor decisions. Finally, in Recommended Listening, in honor of Halloween, I'm giving you reason to worry about the kids coming to your door with "Murderous Minors: Killer Kids."

*This is one of the long me emptying out my brain/ heart and being very emotional episodes. So if you're not here for that, go ahead and skip this one.

For the last 2 weeks I've been having to deal with "all the pains." Between the loss of 2 pets, the stress headaches from that and trying to complete all my interviews, and now excruciating tooth pain, I'm seriously over all of this. Also, I bury myself in my work to deal with grief, so I've put a bunch of new stuff in the shop http://shop.odddadoutpodcast.com Not a plug, but kind of a plug.

There's a ton more written in the show notes at

Geeze I'm busy this week. With all of the preparing for NAPODPOMO I almost forgot I still needed to do a regular episode. On top of that, our dog has been sick and I've been having to take him back and forth to his vet with no answers yet. In the news: I've got a guy who likes to scam scammers, a stupid woman who should have been eaten, and R. Kelly reaffirming that he's not only a douchebag, but also a jackass. Finally in Recommended Listening, I'm gonna try to keep it creepy for October with this week's feature: "A Girl And Her Horror."

Although he has appeared on the show before, Derek had yet to be my esteemed "Guest of the Month" so I needed to fix that. Because we're both nerds, we talk about video games. And, because we're both podcasters, we talk podcasting and how Derek has checked off a lot of podcast category boxes. He's done a gaming news show, an actual play tabletop game which shifted into an improvised audio drama, and now he's dipping his toes into True Crime with his new project "Lifeworld."

Kind of an uneventful week I guess. We went to the first food truck event of the season, (now that the sun wont cook all the vendors inside their trucks.) I give an update on my whole "being sick" thing. No news theme this week, just stupidity. There's a guy who got fired over his attendance record, an idiot who tried to fight a grizzly bear, and an unplanned rant inspired by Moby's new neck tattoo. Lastly, in Recommended Listening, we're exploring the New Kingdom of America with "The Rise of King Asilas."

Soooo... I'm sick. No 2 ways about it. I've been coughing my head off, and my voice is shot. So I'm gonna continue to talk about how I'm sick and my voice is shot because I'm smart that way. On a similar "smart" note, all of the news this week can be summed up in one question, "what were they thinking?" There's a preacher trying to outdo Jesus, a really idiotic French court ruling, and a Jackass who spent his life savings fighting a speeding ticket. But wait, there's more. In Recommended Listening I'm going back to a show that's been mentioned but not formally featured, it's "Oh No! Lit Class."

Short show this week. Long story short, I've just been super busy. Between Dr. appointments, my wife's migraines, and parent/ teacher conferences, I just don't have time to put together a full show.

It's that time again. Time for someone to invite somebody on for a conversation that can only be had with my scrambled brain. This month I have, from Nerds With Words and Drop Tent Media, Adam Nutter. We spend a ton of time talking about comedy. Whether it's standup comedians or comedy films, we've got opinions. Somehow we end up talking sports, and how at our age, we both suck. Plus tons of tangents and randomness because, frankly, we both have brain damage. Enjoy!

I still cannot believe it, but by a strange series of events, we have acquired another dog from my sister this week. In the news I've got weird proposed laws, pumpkin spice Spam, and a Jackass impersonating a police officer. In place of a Recommended Listening feature, I have a small sampling of what I've been bingeing lately ahead of some future features.

This week I had a startling revelation about my youngest son, and it involves a PB&J. Doing a complete 180, every story in the news has to do with penises. (I'm sorry. I don't plan this I swear.) Wrapping it up (see what I did there) in Recommended Listening, it's time to laugh your nose off as I "Release The Clowns"
