True crime and a haunted house? This week we take a look at the Amityville Horror story! In November of 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr. shot and murdered the other 6 members of his family in their home on 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville, New York. One year later, George and Kathy Lutz bought the home, and allegedly had some horrifying paranormal experiences there. They wrote a book, the book became a movie, and the rest is history! In this episode, John and I discuss the original movie starring James Brolin and Margot Kidder, the iconic nature of the house (and it's quarter round windows), the bizarre nature of the DeFeo murders, how much of the Lutz's story is fact and how much is fiction, and a personal familial connection I have to the house. This week, I return to some Connecticut stories! I start with my failed camping trip to Bantam Lake earlier this month, but then go on to discuss 3 famous UFO sightings from the state! First is the Western Connecticut & Hudson River Valley boomerang UFO flap of the 1980s. Then I talk some more about the green whale UFO that allegedly fell into Bantam Lake in 2012. This week Scott and I are discussing the new documentary from Seth Breedlove and the Small Town Monsters team, Land of the Missing! Are Bigfoot creatures responsible for some of the many disappearances in Alaska? We also talk about how Bigfoot creatures seem to be different in Alaska, the alleged Albert Ostman kidnapping, how skeptics bring a bad attitude and vibe to the field, and much more!

Paranormal experiences can be very exciting. But do we jump to conclusions too easily? This week, I discuss how we can analyze paranormal, supernatural, and cryptozoology experiences using Occam's Razor, a philosophy that states "the simplest explanation is usually the correct one." But I also discuss how we can use this mindset to eliminate possibilities, and perhaps get to those instances where things truly are unexplainable. John returns to the show this week, as we share the story of our experiences with a Ouija board back when we were in high school. What started as a party game turned into a summer of strangeness, as we all began experiencing spooky occurrences. Is the spirit board really a way to communicate with ghosts in the afterlife? Gina from Connecticut contacted me about some strange and spooky experiences she has had throughout her life, and was kind enough to write it all out for me to read on the show and share with you. I give my analysis of what she might have been experiencing, and while I think some of it could have been sleep paralysis, there are aspects of her story that make me truly wonder what was going on in her life.

Bigfoot sightings in New York City? Yep, you read that right! This week I discuss some alleged Bigfoot encounters on Staten Island and in Queens, boroughs of New York City. In the 1800s, witnesses claim to have seen a hairy wild man on the shores of Rockaway Beach. And in late 1974 and early 1975, residents of Staten Island claim to have seen Sasquatch prowling around historic Richmond Town. I also discuss other New York City cryptids, such as the baby elephant of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, alligators in the sewers, and the flying humanoid of Coney Island. Was it Mothman? The Jersey Devil? Liz shares some strange experiences she has had while living in the home she shares with her boyfriend and 17-month old daughter. Ironically, she bought the house from our other co-host, Josh Diaz, though Josh says he never experienced anything strange while living there. Scott, Liz and I also talk about ghosts at Gettysburg, patterns of paranormal activity, and of course we discuss a little Bigfoot.
