前两节课是生病，或者运气不好这样的不好的状况，表示同情，这节课来学如果情况更严重的话，我们要说什么。

常用的句子是：

这里的 sorry 并不是向对方道歉，而是“我很抱歉（听到这个消息）”“我很遗憾”“我很难过”“我心里不好受”这样的意思。

that 指代对方说的不好的消息

* 当对方告诉你ta自己的不好的消息，或者是其他人的不好的消息，都可以用这（三）个句子。

两句都是表达同情，有共同之处。区别是

人称上：

Poor you.是对方“（你）真可怜。” 

What a shame. 可以是对方，也可以是第三人称。

上面的对话也可以说 Poor Tom. 可怜的汤姆。

语感上：

像中文一样，“真可怜”和“真可惜”有区别。如果（只是）这一次找工作没成功，我们一般说“真可惜。What a shame.” 如果对话的背景变成：不光这一次，之前汤姆已经申请/面试了99次，这第100次还没成功，那可是“真可怜啊！Poor Tom!”

不过，是“可怜”还是“可惜”也是因人而异。

A: Tom and I broke up yesterday. 

B: Aw, what a shame! You two were such a cute couple!

A: 我和汤姆昨天分手了。

B: 呀，真可惜！你俩是多好的一对啊！

分成几个不同的情景，这节课学表示“我听明白了。”“我理解了。”“我知道（你说的是什么）。”。

通常可以说 Ah.

可以接着说 right 是的，对的 或 okay 好的。

还可以说 I see. 我知道了。（see 在这里是“明白，知道”，不是“看见”）
