Bible Basics, say what?!?! Or another name for our new Fall series could be Simple Seminary, What I didn't know I didn't know, Bible Literacy 101, or Know What You Believe! This is a series for all of us believers. It takes us back to the basics. Back to the gospel, back to Jesus, back to Creation and the big story of God. On today's episode we address "What is the Gospel?," and we will dive into topics like Can I lose my salvation, Is grace enough, and tons more. We hope you will be refreshed and reminded of the goodness of God.
In today’s episode, we are talking about James 2 which tells us that, “faith without works is dead.” But aren’t we saved by faith? YES! Listen and learn about how these two truths don’t contradict each other, but to who both Paul and James are addressing when they say these things and why. We also dig into some fun literary terms, indicatives and imperatives, that help us break the text down even further.
"Fear Not" is the most given command in all of scripture, making it pretty clear that God does not desire for His children to live in fear. But we do, don't we? We might not always experience life threatening fear, but what about daily anxieties? Isn't anxiety a symptom of fear? And what about the fear of God?
On today's episode, Annabel and Jill dive into the topic of fear and what our response as believers should be in the midst of fear.
As we continue our "Doers of the Word" series we look at what scripture says about serving. As believers we are called to serve one another. But we can get caught up in the what, when, and where of how we serve. Sometimes so much that we end up not serving at all because we don't seek out the opportunity because it doesn't fit in with our schedule or our gifting. But we also know that James 2:14-17 says that faith without works is dead and we believe that serving the body of Christ is one of the true marks of a believer.

In follow up to last week's episode on anger, today we are discussing the first part of James 1:19 where it talks about being quick to hear and what that means in regards to God's word.
Because God has given us His Word through the Bible, we have the ability to hear from God directly. When we think on, memorize, and call to mind what His Word says, we are putting this call of James 1:19 into practice.
"Know this my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger" James 1:19

Anger is no fun. It is something we all deal with and it can sneak up on us. What does it look like to be slow to anger and to not sin when we are angry? Grizz and Jill take some time to talk through this sin struggle in light of Truth.

Hey ladies! This episode mid-summer is one that is important! It is why we decided to do the series on being a doer of the Word. What does scripture say about it? Obviously, grace is what saves us through faith alone. We do not believe works leads to salvation in any way, but that it is a product of sanctification after you belong to the Lord. It is what comes from knowing Him, loving Him, and desiring a life of pleasing God over one where it is all about you. Give this "Intro" a listen - you won't regret it!

Maybe you have gotten good at "taming your tongue" and not saying the thing you really want to say out loud. But, it is still in your mind. The question is, what do you do with that thought? Do you dwell on it and think about over and over, or do you confess it to God and choose to think about other things? In Philippians 4:8 it tell us what we are to think on: what is true, honorable, pure, just, lovely, commendable, excellent, or anything that is worthy of praise. Not worldly praise. But anything worthy of the Lord - that which is of Him, by Him, and for Him. Join Grizz and Michelle as they talk about how to change our thinking.
