All the Bright Places has a lot going for it in that the plot is somewhat unique and it really shines a necessary light on mental health, and the importance of getting help when needed. However, Romance and Language had us clutching our pearls rather tightly, for both the book and the movie. Although the adaptation was good enough in regard to the script, we're kind of lukewarm toward the overall outcome.

Like most fans, we'll usually choose the book over the adaptation, but we're still open to seeing what the studio's come up with. However, we're not as eager when a delightful, enduring classic like Anne of Green Gables is turned into whatever Netflix did with Anne with an E. Straying from the source material is to be expected, but straying from the source material to unnecessarily superimpose 21st century values...not so much. Ratings are appropriately low, but we were clutching our pearls plenty. At least for the parts we could make it through.
