Shane is an enduring American classic, and for good reason. Even with it's show of Wild West law, Jack Schaefer does a great job of portraying an ideal and how what someone does can be a real reflection of who someone truly is. Even better, the film adaption accurately captures most important parts of the book, too!

Somehow enduring whodunit murder mystery which isn't really a murder and only somewhat a mystery. At least The Westing Game keeps the pearl clutching to a minimum, keeping it appropriate and fun for kids but slightly underwhelming for adults who think about the actual story too much.

Never mind the critics, Hillbilly Elegy is well worth reading, and even the adaptation does a great job of simply telling the story of a family without blame or commentary, but a desire to show a glimpse of an oft-overlooked world. Pearls will be clutched over (non-gratuitous) language, but thankfully the rest has been kept in check!
