  • Full House: S5E17: Spellbound (Back To School Part 2 Series)
    Happy Friday Fulls House Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today I covered the next episode in the Full House Back To School Part 2 Series, Full House S5E17: Spellbound, which aired on January 28, 1992.
In this episode Stephanie participates in a spelling bee and Michelle learns to read with Jesse's help.
I enjoyed this episode, I really liked how Danny called Stephanie out for being a sore loser and explaining how she could have handled it better and congratulated Davey. Now Davey, I don't want to say he had an ego even though we know he relished being referred to as the "human dictionary" but he did bring Stephanie her ribbon for who knows how she placed in the competition because she left or was escorted out by Jesse and Joey before we could find out. I think this would have been an interesting opportunity to bring back Stephanie's friend from Season 2-3 Harry, they could have been in different classes and faced off on stage as the best spellers in their class, like we used to be friends but now we're rivals.
I also think Jesse was the best one to teach Michelle how to read unlike Danny who wanted to incorporate the names of cleaning products into the mix and DJ who was I think too advanced talking about the differents sounds the same vowels make, like seriously, DJ, Michelle's on Level 1 and you're jumping to Level 4, back it up a bit and go slower.
I really wish Jesse could have taken the same approach to teaching Nicky and Alex letters as he did with Michelle, but I think Season 8's Breaking Away was all about Jesse wanting to be right and proving a point that in his mind no one's more qualified than him when it comes to teaching his kids.

  • Full House: S2E17: El Problema Grande de DJ (Back to School Part 2 Series)
Happy Full House Friday Tanner Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, I'm covering the first episode in a new Full House Series, Back To School Part 2, with Full House S2E17: El Problema Grande de DJ, which aired on March 10, 1989.
In this episode DJ gets a "D" in Spanish. Danny goes to try and find out what was going on and talks to the teacher. The teacher explains that DJ just wasn't trying. She comes over to the house later and labels things in Spanish. then she and Danny kiss. Dj and her friends come home and see them kissing and everyone laughs at her. Then Danny has to decide whether to continue to see the teacher or to respect DJ and her feelings.
I thought this was a good and fun episode with many things going on, DJ's D in Spanish leading to Danny confronting and falling for DJ's teacher Senorita Linda Mosley. I was really angry with DJ this episode her feeling she should get an A even though she she gave up on the work, even going so far as to think the teacher hates her and that's why she got a bad grade. She was selfish and couldn't accept the fact that the blame for the bad grade lies solely with her. She also expected Danny to just talk to her teacher and her grade would automatically be changed. UGH!
Poor Stephanie takes a vow of silence (I bring up the character Dwyane from the movie Little Miss Sunshine taking a vow of silence, let's just say that didn't work out so well for him, spoiler if you didn't see the movie)after a note from her teacher labels her a chatterbox due to her talking in class, however she chalks it up to kids asking her for help. and little Michelle almost shot at stardom with the Mr. Marshmallow ad campaign. Bad parenting on Jesse and Joey's part leaving a two year old with a large bag of Mini Marshmallows that probably weighs as much as she, by the day of the commercial she has polished off almost the entire bag claiming "tummy full".
Now don't get me wrong, I love marshmallows as much as the next person but even I'm not going to polish off a bag in 24 hours.
Clearly what we didn't see, Michelle with severe bathroom issues and vomiting so much white goo, the Stay Puff'd Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters would be envious.
Nick and Irene (Jesse's parents make an appearance) long enough for tushie grabs courtesy of Irene and Nick's obsession with Tina Louise from Gilligan's Island to come to light.
So much fun and laughs and Tanner Teachable Moments!
Join me next week for the next episode in the Back to School Part 2 Series, Full House S5E17: Spellbound, which aired on January 28, 1992.
In this episode Stephanie participates in a spelling bee against her rival Davey Chu and Michelle is determined to read and let me tell you she's got some teachers with interesting teaching methods Danny and DJ.

  • Full House: S7E17: The Last Dance (Grandparents Day Series)
    Hey Tanner Fans,
Angela Bowen, here the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, I conclude the Grandparents Day series with the final episode Full House S7E17: The Last Dance, which aired on February 8, 1994.
In this episode during his visit to San Francisco, Jesse's beloved grandfather, Papouli, dies in his sleep. Jesse and Michelle are both devastated as they try to come to terms with his death.
I'd put off recording this episode for as long as I could, I wanted to wait until I was emotionally ready and could handle watching it again.
I remember watching this episode when it first aired and realizing the promo that aired days before this episode was correct, this was an episode you shouldn't miss. For the first time we were seeing the Tanners/Katsopolis and Joey openly grieve someone who had passed away. Granted the two most affected by Papouli's passing where Jesse and Michelle.
I loved the close relationship shared between Papouli and Michelle with learning a Greek dance and baking in the kitchen and his wise stories, there had to be a bond there between them just like Jesse had with his grandfather when he was a little boy to get that heartbreaking scene at the end with Jesse and Michelle, where they break down in each others arms, finally able to release that pain and hurt they had been holding in.
Now I'd seen the episode a few times over the years courtesy of Hulu, but there were key scenes that were left out, that in watching this uncut DVD version, I was surprised helped piece some things together for me.
In the beginning of the episode Danny and Joey are at the kitchen table preparing grape leaves and they're talking about going fishing when they were kids with Danny's father and how they dreamed one day when they were grown they would buy their own boat.
One, I liked that we got a little tidbit of Danny and his dad because we don't know much about him and two this scene helped piece together how they ended up with the boat towards the end.
The other scene I feel like I had never seen was with Danny and Michelle in her bedroom as she is asking her father why Papouli had to die, Danny just tells her he was old and time on this earth is short. He tells her to come to him with any questions and tells her they'll help each other through as a family.
I thought the scene was ok, but honestly neither Bob Saget or whichever Olsen twin who was playing Michelle in this scene brought their A game to the table. I get it we needed to hold out for the powerhouse scene between Jesse and Michelle at the end, but this scene just fell flat for me and was kinda weak sauce.
Overall, it was good to see this episode again in it's full unedited glory.
Join me next week when I begin the new series for NOVEMBER, Back to School Part 2 Series, where I kick things off with Full house S2E17: El problema Grande de DJ, which aired on March 10, 1989.

Today, a Fuller House Cast Member is celebrating a birthday, Elias Harger (Max Fuller), so I decided to cover Fuller House S2E5: Doggy Daddy, which aired on December 9, 2016.
In this episode a not so typical day involves a dance audition, a toddler play date, four chickens, and a vet emergency. Matt comes to an important realization.
This episode was so much fun and full of laughs. It had so much going on. I really enjoyed it so much!

  • Full House: S3E5: Granny Tanny (Grandparents Day Series)
    Hey Tanner Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, in continuing with the Grandparents Day Series, I covered Full House S3E5: Granny Tanny, which aired on October 20, 1989.
In this episode we get Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond) guest starring as Claire Tanner or as I refer to her in this episode Claire 2.0.
Newly divorced as well as retired from the stationary supply business and now residing in Seattle, Washington, NOT Tacoma, Washington like in Season 1. I had to correct myself towards the end of the episode. She's come to visit and looking for a sense of purpose with no more work and no kids to raise she needs something to fill her days.
Danny senses his Mom is becoming depressed and has the family act like they can't take care of the house without her help. Claire jumps at the chance to take care of everyone, making them elaborate Thanksgiving sized meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. She picks out Michelle's beautiful pencil bed (which I am so envious of)since Michelle proved that it's time to upgrade from a crib to a big girl bed which honestly is the safe way to go to prevent possible future injury of her climbing out of her what would be today, an unsafe crib with bars.
Claire takes the job of being the caretaker so seriously that she takes it upon herself to move in permanently practically shoving Jesse and Joey out the door, telling them to get on with their lives. The guys say no way this is my family, I don't want to miss out on these girls lives, so Claire suggests the guys share a room and get bunk beds while she takes over Jesse's room, trying to convince herself she can fit 6 rooms of furniture in that small space as she measures the room.
Danny finally puts on his big boy pants as he spills the beans about the lies of them needing her to wait on them hand and foo including the I Love Brussels lie he's been telling for over 20 years. They settle on her she moving into an apartment in the neighborhood instead of living under the same roof.
Join me next week when we celebrate Fuller House Elias Harger (Max Fuller, DJ's middle child)birthday with Fuller House S2E5: Doggy Daddy, which aired on December 9, 2016.

  • Full House: S1E4: The Return Of Grandma (Grandparents Day Series)
    Hey Tanner Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, I begin the first episode in a new series entitled Grandparents Day Series, Full House S1E4: The Return Of Grandma, which aired on October 9, 1987.
In this episode an untimely visit from Danny's mom Claire, leaves them unprepared and the house looking uninhabitable. Shocked at Danny and the guy's unkempt ways she calls in reinforcements in the form of Irene Cochran (Jesse's Mom) and Mindy Gladstone (Joey's Mom) to help encourage the guys to clean up their act for the girl's sake or the mom's are moving in and it will really be a Full House.
I enjoyed this episode. I was a lot of fun and who can forget Bubba the turtle. I can only hope that eventually Jesse released Bubba to his natural habitat or donated him to a zoo (ya know, like they did for Shorty the donkey in Season 8).
I was rolling on the floor laughing (not literally) to Claire's reaction to thinking Michelle had turned into a turtle. (really, Claire?, too much jetlag, I guess)
Join me next week when I dive into the next installment in the Grandparents Day series Full House S3E5: Granny Tanny, which aired on October 20, 1989.
In this episode It's early Saturday morning and Michelle crawls for the first time out of her crib all by herself and gets a real big girl's bed from Grandma who comes on a weekend visit, and Danny learns a lesson.

  • Full House: S6E20: Grand Gift Auto (In Honor Of Dave Coulier's (Joey Gladstone) Birthday)
    Hey Full House Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, in honor of Dave Coulier's Birthday, I've decided to cover Full House S6E20: Grand Gift Auto, which aired on March 16, 1993.
In this episode Joey gets D.J. a car for her birthday, but the police show up with the news it's stolen and suspect Joey of being the thief. When the Tanners attempt to prove his innocence, Joey gets the impression that he's not appreciated in the family.
I really enjoyed this episode, for years Joey has been seen as the funny guy by his family, but he feels the joke's on him when he buys DJ a used car for her 16th birthday and it is reported stolen by the owner. The family rallies around Joey in his defence by using all his goofy possessions like a Scooby Doo Nightshirt (I Want That Shirt), and TMNT Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Slippers (I Had Those Same Ones When I was 11, Leonardo) to save him from being arrested. Luckily for Joey the tough lady cop is wowed by his Turtle Slippers and he isn't take to jail.
While the family celebrates, Joey is hurt and embarrassed as he lashes out at the family thinking he is the big family joke.
I feel for Joey up to a point, but honestly this whole thing would have gone a lot better if Jesse or Danny had gone with him to see this car, granted Joey wanted it to be a surprise for DJ, but now he's out a bit of money, and sadly we don't know how much he laid down for the car.
I loved the lady cop and thought the actress did a great job.
This is a good life lesson for us all, if a deal seems to go to be true, it probably is, and also never go by yourself to purchase something from someone online. Don't go to someone's house, always meet in a public place, bring a friend in case things are shady. If you don't feel right about something, walk away.
This little old lady as Joey describes her will be caught, she is the real thief. I'm sure the bank knows something, and I bet Joey isn't the first person she tried to get with that scam.
Join me in October for the first episode in the Grandparents Day Series, I kick this off with Full House S1E4: The Return Of Grandma, which aired on October 9, 1987.
In this episode an untimely visit from the guys' mothers turns the house upside down.

  • Full House: S8E6: You Pet It You Bought It (Full House: Animal Antics Series)
    Hey Full House Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, I'm covering the fourth and final entry in the Full House: Animal Antics Series with Full House: S8E6: You Pet It, You Bought It, which aired on November 1, 1994.
in this episode Michelle buys a donkey from the traveling petting zoo that she names Shorty, we also have Jesse's rendition of the theme song to TV's Three's Company minus a few lyrics, as well as Stephanie and her map of the United States Project for school, Danny finding a photo of an old relative from the Civil War Era, and having the picture restored to all it's enlarged sepia toned glory, both are victim's to Shorty's paper and plaster diet and of course DJ' is Shorty's most affected victim due to having a full blown allergic reaction and on the day of her senior picture.
And this is all in the span of less than 24 hours.
Who knew a donkey could cause such havoc in that amount of time.
Alright, so as most of you listeners know I am in the process of moving out of state, next week to be exact and as such will not be putting out new episodes until October when I will start the Grandparents Day Series that was originally meant for September and Back To School Part 2 Series will kick off in November.
