The Oklahoma Outdoors Podcast has reached 50 episodes and what great timing! After a lot of hard work, hours, and miles John finally connected on a nice Oklahoma whitetail buck! John recaps a little story about the buck from 2019, how he disappeared, and mistook him for another buck when he started making rounds on the ranch during the 2021 rut. After all that time and history the buck ends up at only 20 yards! Give this one a listen and thank you all for 50 great episodes!

This week on the Oklahoma Outdoors Podcast, John tells the story of his 2021 Texas rifle buck, as well as some close calls he has had on the home place in Oklahoma. The Texas buck took a lot of driving, some patience, and way too much texting. John even jumped the buck on the way into the stand! Back in Oklahoma, he had one of his hit list bucks at 18 yards, and one of the craziest buck filled morning hunts of his entire life.

Amy McTague Is a relatively new hunter, but she has put in the time and determination to shave several years off of the usual learning curve. Amy enjoys putting the phone away, and completely submersing herself into the outdoors. Not only is she quickly becoming an accomplished hunter, she recently went to Taxidermy school and opened up her very own shop as another way to get closer to the outdoors and the creatures that live in it. John and Amy also talk about her journey into the outdoors, and some of the struggles and benefits that women have getting into the sport of hunting.

Zach Meadows jumps on the Oklahoma Outdoors Podcast to tell the story of his potential Oklahoma state record! Zach had planned to take his 12 year old son to hunt the big buck that had been showing up on their cameras, but in the end it turned out to be Zach himself who took down the buck that might break the record for largest typical whitetail in the state of Oklahoma. Zach recalls to John the story of the hunt, the years of management leading up to having a deer of that caliber on his property, and the crazy aftermath that comes with killing a deer like the one he did.

This week on the Oklahoma Outdoors Podcast, John goes through a little season update and talks about getting one of his close friends on a good Oklahoma muzzleloader buck. John had prepped a stand site just for this occasion, and it worked out even better than he thought. Using the terrain and a small food plot, Randy was covered in deer, including a nice mature 8 point buck! John also talks about where he is at in his season, and what his plans and strategies are for the upcoming weeks.

Shane went to work as a cameraman in the outdoor industry straight out of high school and has been doing it professionally ever since. HIs work has been on television and platforms across the internet. His job has opened some incredible doors along the way and allowed him to work all over the world. Shane talks about his time in the industry and also throws in a few hunting stories of his own.

Returning guest Tyrell Roy and his wife Karly join the podcast this week to talk about a special evening they had in mid October. Having one mature buck come into bow range is hard enough, but Tyrell and Karly managed to get two shooter bucks into range during the same hunt! The couple was nice enough to take a break from farming to jump on and tell the story, and offer up a few tips to help others find their own success. Last year Tyrell killed three big bucks in the same year, this year he has killed two in only two hunts!

Sam and Makenzie Ridenhour are this week's guest on the Oklahoma Outdoors Podcast. When the two met a few years ago it was a perfect storm and ever since then hunting has been a big piece of the foundation that holds their relationship together. The two make it a point to spend as much time in the outdoors as possible, and of course poke a little fun at the other along the way. On todays episode Sam gives some photography tips and recaps the story of a nice buck he killed in 2020, while Makenzie discusses her monthly outdoor segment she has on the local news channel and talks about her introduction into noodling.

This weeks Oklahoma Outdoors episode is a two for one! Kyle Griffith was able to tag a nice buck on opening day of Oklahomas archery season, but the podcast doesn't stop with that story. Kyle is a chiropractor by trade, but specializes in helping athletes recover from injuries. John and Kyle go over tips to help the common archer stay fit and healthy to prevent injuries before they start, specifically shoulder injuries. This episode is jam packed!

Taylor Jones works for tree stand and saddle platform manufacturer Out On A Limb, and makes sure to set aside plenty of time to hunt every fall. On today's episode he starts by telling the story of a giant whitetail he kills on some family land in southeast kansas. The fun doesn't stop there as he also talks about a successful mule deer hunt he had earlier this year in Nebraska while waiting on Oklahoma's bow season to open.
