In this bonus episode, Leandra and I discuss our thoughts on spoilers, our personal experiences with spoilers, and the various ways spoilers can be well-intentioned or nefarious. This is a subject I covered more broadly in a general episode from November 2020, Spoiler Warning (Ad Free). Of course, there are no actual spoilers in either episode, so listen without fear!

  • Audiobook: A Terribly Strange Bed by Wilkie Collins

Welcome to your audiobook for March 2024. The book club’s theme for March is Pre-GAD, meaning detective fiction published prior to 1920. The short list voting poll closed with EC Bentley’s Trent’s Last Case taking first place, but Wilkie Collins’s novel, The Moonstone, still received 25% of the casted votes. Therefore, I thought it would be fitting to select a Wilkie Collins short story for this month’s audiobook.

In this 19th-century tale, an Englishman visits a gambling-house in Paris and finds his luck unexpectedly change. Before I begin reading this short story, can you figure out what the title might mean?

After listening, if you'd like to discuss these stories with other members or make suggestions for me to record in the future, head over to the audiobook club area of the forum to do that.
