“When you're afraid to look someone in the eye, there's something you're afraid that person is going to see.” - Guy & Ilan Ferdman

The title says it all. You know that awkwardness you feel when you go to a party? That mind blank you have when you meet someone new? Yeah… that stuff. Social anxiety is difficult.
Fortunately, there are tools to help. Through our personal development experience and coaching of several people, we’ve learned some ways to manage social anxiety that might be different from what you’ve heard before.
On today’s episode of Personal Development Without The Fluff, we’re here to share some ways you can work with your social anxiety rather than fight against it.
Tune in to this conversation to learn how to stop feeling so distant from the people right next to you.
Get ready to take some notes!
“When I started doing this personal development work, it occurred to me that the same fears I have inside that are constantly yapping, everyone has.” - Guy & Ilan Ferdman

    The Cliff Notes:
We usually assume that we’ll be judged if we open up. Rightfully so.
Bringing awareness to, rather than avoiding discomfort, can help you recenter yourself.
Relearn how to connect with people by practicing the “Be With” exercise.
We get so caught up in our own insecurities that we forget everyone else has them too.
Be curious about the people you talk to. Ask questions. Learn their story.
Everyone has learned to fake facial cues, but body language communicates how we really feel.
You don't need to necessarily change your anxious reactions, but learn to be aware of them.
When meditating, intentionally visualize the social environments that intimidate you.
“I don't need to worry about how I show up. I just need to be interested in this person. And if I'm interested in this person, I can be a space for them to say whatever they need to say.” - Guy & Ilan Ferdman

  • 195: Without Integrity, You Can’t Experience Fulfillment
“When you treat your word as God and as law, you realize that this word manifests your life.”
    - Guy & Ilan Ferdman

“Live authentically,” they always say. But what does that mean? How do you know whether you’re living authentically? To rephrase that question, how do you live with integrity?
Living with integrity, though challenging and sometimes ignored, is one of the most important things you can do for your life. When you don’t carry out your day-to-day journey with integrity, you risk losing opportunities that are perfectly aligned for your path.
On today’s episode of Personal Development Without the Fluff, we talk about integrity and how the many interconnected facets of life are affected by it. Everything you do in life influences everything you do in life.
Tune into this recorded webinar to start living with your best integrity!
“Forgiveness comes when compassion is present. You cannot forgive until you have compassion.”
    - Guy & Ilan Ferdman
    (click to tweet)
The Cliff Notes:Our unresolved baggage barricades us from the things we desire.Your thoughts and your words become your reality, so be intentional about them.Eliminating aspects of life that don't serve you well allows room for the things that do. Breakthroughs are contagious and spread throughout all areas of your life. People don't live with integrity because they're too focused on their image. Integrity requires cleaning up any relationships to the best of your ability. You forgive others not for their health, but for your own health.Forgiving someone doesn't mean you are condoning their actions.Forgiveness REQUIRES compassion.
“Breakthroughs don't stick to the single area that you have the breakthrough in. They manifest everywhere and start going into all areas of your life.”

“There’s never a point in the entire developmental process of a child that you’re ready.”

Wisdom develops with age and experience. We all know that. No matter how smart you are, life has hidden nuances to it that you simply can’t grasp without the appropriate experience.
Remember how there was that one thing you were told not to do as a child and it made absolutely no sense to you? When you look back at that thing years or even decades later, does it make sense to you now? Yeah? Well, that’s wisdom.
On today’s episode of Personal Development Without The Fluff, we reflect on various experiences of ours that only life could teach us. We hope this is something that will give you a scope into what your growth might be like. Tune in to this conversation to gain some knowledge from us that will hopefully become wisdom for you.

“I’ve gotten to make a distinction between sleep and rest. So when I sleep, I’m not always rested. And when I rest, I’m not always sleeping.”
    - Guy & Ilan Ferdman
    (click to tweet)
The Cliff Notes:Having a child is like a love you’ve never experienced but also a sense of pain and fear you’ve never experienced. No matter how prepared you try to be with parenting, there will always be unexpected challenges. We are able to adapt to changes when we are willing to adapt to changes.Sometimes all you need is someone to show you a structure that will move you forward. If your relationship is failing, DO NOT expect to solve it by having a child. Not only does having less equal more, it can also lead you to more of what you need.Learn to make the distinction between sleeping and resting. Acting out of avoidance of pain ultimately sets you up to experience more of that pain.Life tends to work more in favor of you when you stop trying to fight your alignment.Acting out of scarcity and fear is will probably cause a greater sense of scarcity and fear.

  • 193: Creating Alignment Around Abundance, Wealth, Safety & Confidence
“A good teacher actually doesn’t tell you what to do. They show you where to look.”
    - Guy & Ilan Ferdman
    (click to tweet)
The most cliche saying we know is that money can’t buy happiness. Right? So why do we still chase it like we do?
We get mixed messages all the time. We hear that money isn’t the answer to fulfillment, yet we’re simultaneously taught how we should chase after wealth.
Well it’s fair to say that even though money doesn’t solve our internal issues, we chase it because we think it affords us the deeper desires we have. We think it affords us things like freedom, joy and peace of mind.
That’s why on today’s episode of Personal Development Without The Fluff, we talk about how to pursue your deeper desires first, and then allow wealth and abundance to be a consequence of inner fulfillment.  Tune in to this conversation to STOP chasing the external world and START exploring your inner world.
“Life reflects not what we are doing but who we are being.”
    - Guy & Ilan Ferdman
    (click to tweet)
    The Cliff Notes:
At the most basic level, we’re essentially guided by our sensations. One of the obstacles that get in our way is the feeling of unworthiness. Our body is what experiences the life we are in. Our mind simply interprets it.We tend to reinforce our own perception of money whether it be of abundance or scarcity.Changing your external circumstances doesn’t necessarily change your internal circumstancesJoy and freedom must come first, then abundance is likely to be a consequence. It’s not about finding the next job, relationship, diet ect. It’s about the energy that you output. It’s not about doing. It’s about being.Trauma is relative to every individual’s experience.
“The moment you start getting reflection and start understanding how to work with the energy of your body, your entire life changes.”

  • 192: Stem Cell Therapy, Naturopathy, and Spirituality in Medicine with Dr. Tami Meraglia
“People don’t understand that when you eat is sometimes just as important as what you eat.”
    - Dr. Tami Meraglia
    (click to tweet)
Most of the time when people hear the topic of stem cells, they tense up. It’s a topic that has caused lots of disagreement and heated debate.
One of the main polarizing focal points of the discussion is whether it’s ethical or not to pursue research and use of them.
That very discussion is what brings us here. Today stem cells can be utilized ethically and open up a countless array of possibilities for our bodies to heal themselves.
That’s why on today’s episode of Personal Development Without The Fluff, we are joined by Dr. Tami Meraglia to discuss the ways stem cells can be used with great benefit without causing harm to anyone.  Tune in to this conversation to open your eyes to a possible new journey to your personal well-being.
You can learn more about Dr. Meraglia and Seattle Stem Cell Center at https://seattlestemcellcenter.net.
“The story that you tell yourself about what you deserve and who you are actually dictates about 90% of your cellular activity.”
    - Dr. Tami Meraglia
    (click to tweet)
    The Cliff Notes:
The timing of the way feed and rest your body is so crucial to your health.Stem cells aren’t only present in embryos, they’re also present in adult fat.Adult stem cells are less likely to be at risk of causing tumors than embryonic stem cells.Stem cell growth is significantly affected by its environment.Your thoughts and feelings can alter the structure and function of your cells. The FDA has declared they essentially have the rights and jurisdiction over YOUR stem cells.Eating just 10% more vegetables a day can significantly improve your longevity. Unlike surgery, stem cell therapy does not have the high risk of worsening your condition.
“Nothing that you do, eat or participate in is neutral. It’s either helping or harming.”

  • 191: How to Deal With Drug Addicts In Your Family
“When you have someone in your family where you think they shouldn’t be that way, that’s the decision YOU’VE made about them.”
    - Guy & Ilan Ferdman
(click to tweet)  Lots of us can probably say that there is someone in our family or maybe our close circle that has a drug addiction. Some of us can also say confidently that we’ve tried to fix them and their habits.
Well what if there’s and entirely different way to approach this altogether?
Our job is never to fix people’s habits. Even if we wish they would make healthier decisions, the truth is that we have no control over that.
So on today’s episode of Personal Development Without The Fluff, we talk with callers about what loving individuals with drug addictions ought to look like.  Tune in to this conversation to learn how you can love while also neither judging nor enabling their choices.
“Sometimes it’s just about saying ‘I’m here for you when you need me. And I want to support you in getting well, but here are my boundaries.’”
    - Guy & Ilan Ferdman
    (click to tweet)
    The Cliff Notes:
Your negative thoughts about someone occupy energy and space. When you change the way you respond to your loved ones, you invite the ability for them to change the way they respond to you. When you decide to label someone destructively, you kill of the possibility of seeing them any other way.Learn to love unconditionally, but also learn to set your own boundaries. We involuntarily develop very specific ways in which we interact with drug-addicted family members. When we identify our family members by their addictions, love is no longer present.Could you love that person in your life if you knew for certain they were never going to change? That’s the love that is necessary.

  • 190: How To Regain Confidence When Things Aren't Going Your Way
“I’ve spent a very large portion of my life believing that if I’m not in action in some way then my life is digressing, and that’s simply not true.”
    - Guy & Ilan Ferdman

Everywhere we go, whether it be on the internet or physically, we see self-help books, articles, videos and classes. We can’t get away from them.
Why? Why are so many people creating and consuming content that tells us how to feel better? We are in a society that lacks confidence and we desperately grasp at external entities to hopefully feed us that confidence. The funny thing is... confidence doesn’t live in between a shiny new softcover book. It lives within us. We just have to foster it’s presence.
That’s why on today’s episode of Personal Development Without The Fluff, we talk about how to find safety within yourself which then allows your confidence to emerge.  Tune in to this conversation to discover that your confidence is within you simply waiting for you to invite it out.

“Energy begets energy. Stress creates more stress. Happiness creates more happiness. Anger creates more anger.”
    - Guy & Ilan Ferdman

The Cliff Notes:Being in alignment is a vital foundation of confidence.Challenges are not happening to you. They are happening for you.All obstacles and challenges have opportunities within them.Suppressing discomfort or pain drains your energy which then drains your confidence. When your system feels unsafe, your confidence takes a direct toll. When we don’t metabolize uncomfortable energy, we set our systems up for unhealthy patterns.Consumerism constantly deceives us to think we always need something external to address something internal. We must find peace and safety within our system.

    - Kara Krueger

In today’s culture, our society is bombarded with countless 3 month fitness routines, weight-loss supplements, quick-fix meds, and incomplete education on how to get in healthier shape.
The problem with so many of these things is that they're often temporary one-size-sorta-fits-all options. Our bodies are much more complex. They require us to treat ourselves with much more attention to genetic detail.
That’s why on today’s episode of Personal Development Without The Fluff, we’ll be discussing all of this with epigenetic and nutrition expert Kara Krueger. Kara is a Certified Nutrition Counselor, an educated Epigenetic Counselor with the Apeiron Academy and is certified by the National Association of Certified Natural Health Professionals. The Cliff Notes:
Environmental circumstance and nutrient deficiency are often overlooked in addiction and/or mental health management.Although intimidating, learning your body’s genetic propensities is invaluable for optimising your longevity.Understanding our genetics can help determine the best and worst ways to treat plenty of health conditions. We always look for quick fixes to uncomfortable symptoms, but we should really look into what’s causing our body to have those symptoms. We need to invest in our health preventatively as opposed to reactionarily. Our comfort zones are what can hold us from experiencing a greater quality of life and health. The ability to affect and change gene expression helps us prevent or delay onset of our genetic propensities. Diets are unique to each person. Some will work well for you while others might be dangerous for you.

“If you look at a lot of what it is that we’ve developed into adulthood, it really is just protection mechanisms.”
    - Guy and Ilan Ferdman(click to tweet)
Life has presented each and every one of us a unique challenge or challenges that we struggle with. Some are relationships. Some are careers. Some are self-confidence. However, one thing that is constantly present in every kind of struggle is our system. Our system responds to the experiences we have in ways that it has learned to best protect itself over time. Some of these responses are helpful, but some can be stagnating or even more damaging than protective. That’s why we love to share what we’ve learned about understanding our systems and how to get your mind and body to work with you rather than against you.
Today on Personal Development Without The Fluff, we decided to record a webinar where we offer specific tools to some of our amazing listeners on how they can grow in their unique struggles. The topics vary from person to person but they all tie into our overarching message of learning to understand your system at a deeply integral level. Tune in to this webinar to hear a powerful discussion that address challenges of several different listeners. Adulthood has just added numerous layers of complexity. When we judge others, we’re actually projecting from an internal unresolved issue.Success and failure are two sides of the same coin. When you find discomfort in challenges you face, it’s crucial to tune into why you are having this reaction. When you put off the opportunities to grow that present themselves, you’re telling yourself that you’re not worthy of experiencing growth.Every aspect of your life is interconnected.
