Omega Metroid is back again this week! Even as we approach the end of September, we're still pumped about the announcement of Metroid Ravenous and the injection of excitement it's given the Metroid community. We've spent three whole episodes since the game's announcement discussing our intial thoughts, hyper-analyzing the trailer frame-by-frame, and speculating on where the story is going. Now, we're passing the microphone to YOU, the listeners! We've curated several questions across our various social platforms to answer all of your burning questions about Metroid Ravenous. You gave us so many questions in fact that we couldn't even fit them into a whole episode! Should Ravenous have a stalker-type enemy similar to the E.M.M.I. or SA-X? What can Ravenous improve over Metroid Dread? And what do we think Adam's fate is? All this and more is answered today!

This week, we have some fun speculating and theorizing where the story of Ravenous could take us. We discuss whether this will be the start of a new Metroid arc, or if it will tie up the loose ends from Metroid Fusion; theorize on who the assassins could be; talk about Samus possiby struggling to control the powers of the Metroid Suit; talk about the likehood of Raven Beak, Ridley, and Exelion Star Corporation playing any story significance; and Andy pitches a character he think should be revealed as the ultimate mastermind, and you won't guess who!

Al this, PLUS some Castlevania: Belmont's curse updates, and a little of what we've playing lately. Come hang out!

Andy is out this week recovering from a procedure, so while he rests up we're opening the Patreon vault to give everyone a taste of our current ongoing series; Gooey Plays Metroid. Gooey has made guest appearances on the show before, most notably our Alien in Review series. However, fans of the Spiteri podcast universe should instantly recognize him from Virtual Theater, the #1 podcast about videogame movies and the stories that shape them! Gooey Play Metroid follows our companion as he plays through the entirety of a Metroid game, most of them for the very first time! In this pilot episode for the series, Gooey takes on Metroid for the NES and discusses his initial thoughts on the game focusing on Brinstar. If you want to see more episodes, subscribe to our Patreon where we've hit currently reached season 3 as Gooey takes On Super Metroid!

All of this, PLUS some special announcements from Doominal Crossing! You'll have to watch to find out what surprises await!

We've been honoring loads of anniversaries this year at Omega Metroid, but today we're celebrating the big one! Metroid was released on the Famicom Disk System on August 6th, 1986, making tomorrow the 40th anniversary of both the seminal title and the series as a whole. Today, Andy and Doom reminice about the legacy, longevity, and influence of the Metroid series while pontificating how such a niche series remains active decades later. The duo also focuses in on the original Metroid title to give the game its flowers and how it changed the face of gaming as we know it.

All this plus some talk about Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The Odyssey, and a quick roundup of the successful 2026 Zelda Dungeon Marathon!

The AM2R celebration continues for one final week, this time with a bit of a role reversal! Doom takes the command chair as the host, while Andy calls in from Chicago on break from the Zelda Dungeon Marathon. This week, the duo is diving back into AM2R one more time to definitively rank every boss in the game. This exceptionally strong collection of fights is ranked in order from the Ancient Guardian at the very beginning of the game, all the way to the Queen Metroid at the finale. Joining the episode is several cameo appearances from various Zelda Dungeon runners, including our very own Gooey Fame from the hit Patreon series, Gooey Plays Metroid!

Tune in to the 2026 Zelda Dungeon Marathon going through Saturday and help the crew raise money for the Greater Chicago Food Depository!
