Probably the worst Group 1 we've ever witnessed, considering the company of horses in the race. We unpack it all.

A small but quality field makes up this year's Makybe Diva. No Treasurethe Moment, but it's still going to be a cracking contest. We should have a clearer picture of who our best local chance will be in a Melbourne Cup and who the top dogs are in the 3yo features after some quality racing at Flemington and Rosehill.

What a story with Baraqiel. He debuted as a 5yo and at start 12 he wins at WFA over 1000m at the Valley, running away from them. He's an absolute gun, one of our favourite horses. Plenty to unpack from the undercard and we forecast forward to some futures plays as well.

What do we have with Treasurethe Moment? Is she the best horse in the country? Official margin 2.5L where she is going to be better suited out to further, unbelievable performance. Sepals was a fantastic result, while the 3yo picture potentially got a bit clearer in Sydney for the Spring futures.

Via Sistina became the first mare in 80 years to win a Group 1 as an 8yo, what a performance. She had to work for it though, with a fantastic effort from Aeliana with her first time at WFA. Plenty of other performances to unpack from the opening weekend of the Spring.
