It's Black History Month - and this year it's coming at a time when diversity, equity and inclusion programs are being dumped in the United States. That has many in Canada left questioning how this trend could shape the future. The Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra is presenting a concert Friday that's perfect for couples. "Love Notes" is full of romantic music to get us into the Valentine's vibe... and the orchestra will introduce us to a 12-year-old piano soloist who is ready to steal our hearts away with her performance of Chopin. We welcome the next person auditioning to be the orchestra's next principal conductor and music director as well as the piano prodigy and to the On The Go studio for a chat... and to hear a bit of Chopin. Knowing how to read is something many of us take for granted... but Newfoundland and Labrador has one of the lowest adult literacy rates in the country. It's something a non-profit called Teachers on Wheels is looking to change. The charity says it has a wait list and needs volunteer tutors to help them out, so they are holding a day-long tutor-training workshop this Saturday, February 8th.
