Regardless who wins the American election, Kamala Harris is still "breaking the glass ceiling" as the first woman of colour with a major party to run for president of the United States. A tribute to Kristina Szutor, the beloved piano teacher at MUN's School of music for 30 years, who passed away on Friday. We hear part of a conversation she had with former On The Go host Ted Blades, and then we welcome two of her friends and colleagues to the studio to share their memories of Kristina Szutor. In the next year, we'll see candidates from all political stripes step forward to run in federal, provincial and municipal elections. One group is hoping at least half of them will be women or gender diverse candidates. We talk about the work being done to increase gender parity in politics with two guests: A Mount Pearl councillor who's also on a sub-committee of Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador called the Caucus for Women and Gender Diverse Individuals, and with a member of an organization called Equal Voice that promotes women and gender diversity in all levels of politics. The City of St. John's has streamlined the approval process for wetlands with a formula that will boil their value down to a single digit.
