One Life Left

Welcome to another podcast edition of the longest running video game related radio show! This week we explain darkness to children, see Kieron Gillen as a Sim torturer, discuss the art of high-level samhousery and "OLL Staff" handle the GTA6 leak! Plus more news, listener's letters and reviews.

Meanwhile, in Nintendo's ongoing vendetta with Ste, there's still no new F-Zero.

We also have a report on last week's Maraoke and news of a Super Special Maraoke in Leamington Spa on October 7th in support of One Special Day - links for further info are below! The next Maraoke after that will be on October 15th at Loading, Peckham, and the third Saturday of each month going forward. To infinity. Maybe. Maraoke!

Do you want to take legal action against us for some reason? Maybe just want to ask us a video game related question? If so then please fire all correspondence to us at [email protected] or drop us a line on our Discord server!

Hello and... how do we do this? It's been so long... welcome to a new episode of One Life Left! Many games got played over Summer but no houses were bought! In this episode we learn the difference between remakes and remasters, create breaking news stories that may not happen, realise who Scopely is and talk push/pull factors in games. Plus all the usual bits of news, letters and reviews. One Life Left - Intuitively controlled since 2006!

Meanwhile, live shows come back to our Discord server next Sunday, 18th September, at around 7pm BST... but join in earlier to help set the mood! See below for the Discord link!

Did you miss us over Summer? Do you have any house buying tips? Tell us everything, and maybe ask us gaming related questions as well, at [email protected] or drop a letter to us on our Discord server.

Welcome once again, dear listeners, to the podcast edition of the World's Longest Running Video Game Related Radio Show: One Life Left! This week we recorded the show live on our Discord server and sounded at least 1% sexier thanks to performing to a crowd. In amongst the news, letters and reviews we had Simon surviving a trip to IKEA to buy a new desk, Ste being fine with not buying the new Atari Lego, Ubisoft cancelling lots and how you'll have to move house and change your whole identity if there's ever a security breach anywhere. The show also briefly turns into Hot UK Deals and we have Simon's Live Fast Five - Games With User Generated Content (that's UGC for the cool kids).

Maraoke returns to Bristol! But be quick or you'll miss it as the date is this Thursday 28th July!! The link for all the details is below...

Do you like pre-order discounts? What are your thoughts on possible future One Life Left merch?? Write to us and let us know at [email protected] or throw yourselves at our Discord channel and leave a letter there. You can also catch us recording the show on our Discord channel on Sunday evenings at 7pm BST, unless otherwise stated or something just doesn't work - link below!

Welcome once again to the podcast edition of One Life Left! We have an even hotter episode for you this week, quite literally... We battle the heat and, with sweat patches aplenty, still manage to bring you a plethora of reviews, a sack full of news and, well, there were no letters this week, instead we review the latest goings on in our Discord server, but more of that later... We also have hot weather coping tips, Ste's adventures at Develop and we briefly consider bringing back the Games Media Awards for our own devious ends! Also we have Simon attempting to filibuster his way out of another Fast Five. Listen in to hear how he did!

Meanwhile, this episode's Simon Byron's Fast Five covers Hottest Video Games!

We forgive you for not sending any letters in this week, dear listeners, but the price of admission to be one of our live, not-studio, audience members at 7pm next Sunday is a letter, plus join our Discord server - an absolute bargain at half the price! Send your letters to us at [email protected] or leave a letter for us on Discord - link below!

It's too hot to type, dear listeners! Instead imagine, if you will, that I've just spent the past hour and a bit listening to this podcast that you all know and love and am then typing notes about Simon's exploits as a new wetsuit owner and how much is too much vaseline when putting on a wetsuit, Ste almost maybe admitting to possibly harassing Nintendo over Twitter via anonymous accounts in his pursuit for more F-Zero games and our dynamic duo's plans for Develop:Brighton this week. Then imagine I'm mentioning this episode also covers all the usual news and reviews and that I'm thanking you for the letters this week before imploring you to please send more letters to us at [email protected] or by joining our ridiculously friendly Discord server at https://discord.gg/nzcMpvbCpk

Envisage me then mentioning the possibility of a Maraoke event in Bristol this month on July 27th and that you might find out more at this link: https://www.facebook.com/singmaraoke or this link https://twitter.com/singmaraoke before saying that the reviewed games this week are Last Call BBS, Death Loop, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Noita.

Imagine that, dear listeners. Because it's far too hot to type it all out.

Stay frosty!

Operator: This is 999. You're through to the police. What is your emergency?

Caller: I need to report a crime...

Operator: Very good, sir. What would you like to report?

Caller: Some children in the park are pulling twigs off a tree.

Operator: Ah. Not really a crime, that, sir...

Caller: Well, there's also a dead hedgehog in the road, here.

Operator: Erm. OK. One of those days... Again, sir, not a crime. Is it causing a hold-up, stopping traffic or anything?

Caller: No but it doesn't look great...

Operator: As I said, then, not a crime.

Caller: OK, well, how about this: Simon Byron dropped a c-bomb on the latest edition of One Life Left.

Operator: A what?

Caller: A c-bomb. You know? He said the word cu-

Operator: Oh! Yes sir, I understand...

Caller: Well, it was beeped out but the beep didn't half distress my cat...

Operator: Poor thing.

Caller: Thank you.

Operator: What else happened?

Caller: Well, he also talked about almost breaking the law in Sweden and performed an impromptu impression of Bob Hoskins.

Operator: Go on...

Caller: They talked about the highest grossing video game movies... there was a Ste Curran Fast Three and the "simplicity" of digital ownership was touched on, amongst other things...

Operator: OK, right...

Caller: They didn't just talk about random stuff, though! They also talked about other recent news items in the world of video games as well as covering listeners' letters. And they reviewed Death Loop, Fire Girl DX, Freshly Frosted and Please Fix The Road, though their review scores are always 7/10 for some reason...

Operator: Did you just speak in hyperlinks?!

Caller: What? No idea what you're talking about... Personally, I think something should be done. People should write in to the show at [email protected]. Maybe tell them if they've actually seen the Warcraft movie, for example. I certainly haven't...

Operator: Erm.

Caller: Or join the One Life Left Discord channel to tell them what they think of the show there! The link for that is hard to pronounce but it's https://discord.gg/nzcMpvbCpk They could also talk about how bad these show notes are!

Operator: Well, I'm sorry sir but, again, this isn't really a police matter... Unless...

Caller: Unless what?

Operator: That dead hedgehog you saw.

Caller: What about it?

Operator: Was it blue?

Welcome to another episode of One Life Left, dear listeners, and more "accurate" show notes from our Undercaretaker! This week we question the definition of a gaming leak, hope that Charles Cecil MBE is involved with the next Street Fighter game, learn about the new Sega mini-console to be released that we'll use only once (if we buy it at all, which we likely won't), discover that Simon still knows what skeuomorphism means, Ste reveals how to get two free ice creams and we find out which games actually scare our intrepid duo! Wowsers, it's a jam-packed show! What more could you want? Well, there's also a good helping of news, loads of letters and reviews! And we give this to you for free. FREE!

Plus there are TWO upcoming Maraoke events for your diary! One of them is this very Thursday 9th June at a private party in Finland so give Ste a nudge ASAP if you want super special access to that one. The other Maraoke is set for Friday 17th June at the lovely Loading Peckham! See the link below for further details!

Blimey, a correspondent this week went and got given a game for sending in a letter - that could be you in future! Maybe. Write to us at [email protected] or you are much more than welcome to come and join our Discord channel and pop a question in there - link below!

This week’s show sees our very handsome hosts struggle to maintain their usual award-winning radio standards but it’s still the best thing you’ll hear on the Internet this week. They talk about loads of stuff, offering the best opinions and comments on everything of interest. Indeed, if you were in dire need of an essay on videogames you could simply hand in a transcript and you’d get an A* or equivalent.

(NB: the person that usually writes this stuff is on holiday, but presumably this is the sort of stuff he writes.)
