This week, my guest is Life Coach, Tom Parish. 

After a painful divorce, Tom was overwhelmed by self-doubt and shame and found himself struggling under the weight of toxic masculinity - the pressure to suppress emotion, to "man up" and to suffer in silence.  

In the midst of this emotional collapse, Tom experienced a profound awakening. He left his career as an Aircraft Engineer in the RAF and embarked on a radically different path as a Life Coach grounded by compassion, authenticity and connection to the present moment. 

We explore Tom's journey of healing, the inner work that helped him move through suicidal ideation and the liberating power of embracing vulnerability as a man. We also talk about the cultural pressures that keep so many men emotionally repressed and how self love is the foundation for real lasting change in ourselves and the world. 

As part of his awakening, Tom also embraced veganism, deepening his connection to compassion, authenticity and conscious living.

This week I'm talking about a time when I was close to settling within a relationship which was a very good one, but it wasn't the right one. 

I talk about my break up and how much it hurt and the grief I felt and the way i blamed myself, questioning why I couldn't just be happy and settle down. 

At 40 years old, I now see how much conditioning I was influenced by and talk about how my recognition of that was the first step towards being a happily single and childfree woman!

Marcia shares her story of how an appearance on the American television news magazine 60 Minutes, in which she told her in-laws that she and her then-husband had no plans to have children, led to the loss of her teaching job and being unfairly labelled a child hater. 

We discuss Marcia's decision not to have children and the deep commitment that motherhood requires. Marcia shares her experience of being childfree in the 1970's, a time when she found herself alone in her choice. 

We discuss pronatalism and the common phrases used to shame and scare women into motherhood, as well as Marcia's two books, Confessions of a Childfree Woman and WHAT? You Don't Want Children?

My guest this week is a friend of mine, Kirsty Wood, RD. 

Kirsty is a  Confidence & Empowerment Coach as well as being a Registered Dietitian specialising in gut health and digestion, intuitive eating and helping people to improve their relationship with food. 

I wanted Kirsty and I to have both a personal and professional chat about the overwhelming pressure placed upon women to look a certain way in a society fuelled by patriarchy, capitalism and media messaging. 

We discuss our personal struggles with body image, food, and eating disorders while growing up in the ’90s, surrounded by diet culture. Kirsty shares insights from her work, examines today’s trends, weight stigma, and fatphobia, and highlights how far we still have to go.

We also explore the impact of weight-related comments—whether about loss or gain—and how damaging they can be. Plus, we discuss the harmful messages still directed at women around food and body image, and how Kirsty plans to raise her daughter with a positive relationship with food and movement.
