Have you ever gotten tired of what you were doing? Or thought about doing something different with your business? Have you ever wanted to just throw in the towel because your business leaves you feeling overwhelmed?
I’ve been there more than once. And when I start to feel like I want to quit, I remember the words of one of my mentors. She told me, “Don’t quit, shift.” Take it from me, sticking to this journey is hard but it’s worth the fight to get what you want. And that’s what I’m going to talk about today with Emily Aborn in this episode.
But this is actually a chat we recorded for Emily’s podcast, She Built This. I’m excited to share it with you because I talk about some changes I’m working on behind the scenes and why my business will look a little different in 2022.

Are you thinking about creating an online course to grow your business? That is what you see online all the time as the best way to generate income and grow your business. But will this so-called expert advice work for your business?
You have to make that decision for yourself based on your expertise, your target audience and demand in your industry. Well I’ve decided that creating an online course isn’t a good fit for my business. Deciding not to create an online course wasn’t an easy decision to make and had been a question mark for me for way too long. So in this episode I talk about the following:

Personalized marketing is what is going to really boost your business growth and your revenue. One of the best ways to nurture relationships that bring about this type of growth is effective email marketing. One lesson all of us have learned by now is that you need to rely on more than social media because you don’t own those accounts and the platforms can go down at any time.
But you own your email list! So it’s time to ditch the boring PDFs, guides and worksheets and start using quizzes! Quizzes are the low hanging fruit of marketing that is fun, engaging and intuitive. They help people feel seen and heard because you’re serving them better. But is it the right marketing tool for your business? How do you even create one?
You’ll get the answers to those questions and more during this chat with Linda Sidhu, the quiz queen!

Running an online business doesn't mean everything has to depend on you.
The Mind Your Time podcast is for established online business owners, entrepreneurs and service-based…
I'm Shannon Baker, a Capacity Systems Strategist with more than 25 years of experience helping entrepreneurs improve how work gets done. I help women recognize where their online business depends on them more than it should, decide what actually needs their attention first, and make changes so everything doesn’t depend on them.
On the podcast we talk about what that looks like in real life:
- Clients who have too much access to you
- Team members who can do the work but still need you to tell them what happens next
- Processes that live in your head
- Decisions that keep coming back to you
- Work you've delegated but end up doing yourself
This podcast will help you answer questions like:
- How do I build an online business that runs without me?
- What actually needs my attention as an online business owner?
- Why does everything in my business still depend on me?
- When should I stop doing something myself and hand it off?
- Why isn't delegating saving me more time?
- What business systems do I need to save time?
- How do I set better boundaries with my clients?
- Why does my team still need me to answer every question?
- How do I keep my business running when I take time off?
The goal isn't to remove yourself from your business. It's to make sure everything doesn't require you. I believe your time is accessible, but not "Open Access."
So if you're ready for some time-saving tips and strategies so you have more time to lead your business, grab your coffee and join me for a conversation.
