She was the face of fitness, appearing on the cover of magazines and acting as an ambassador for a world-renown brand. But as a Black woman, she was often the only one in the room.

Up until February 2020, yoga instructor and wellness and mindfulness coach, Sara Clark, lived in New York amid the hustle, going from contract to contract.

Imagine you’re an investigative journalist and a judge asks you to read the transcripts of a 1987 murder case, explaining that the man they convicted is innocent and still serving time.

In 2018, Brooklyn-based, author, journalist, and podcaster, Gilbert King, read those transcripts and immediately felt compelled to find out more about convicted murderer, Leo Schofield and the victim, Leo’s wife, Michelle.
