According to online records from the Travis County Sheriff's Office, Courtney Clenney's parents were arrested on Tuesday on out-of-state undetermined felony charges

Clenney, who is currently awaiting trial for the alleged murder of her boyfriend Christian Obumseli in 2022, have been taken into custody. Online records obtained from the Travis County Sheriff's Office reveal that both Deborah and Kim were arrested on Tuesday at the Travis County Jail in Texas. The charges against them are unspecified and originate from another state. Deborah was booked at 7:36 PM local time, while Kim was booked at 7:34 PM. They are currently being held without bond on behalf of another agency.

“Our agency will not issue a statement,” a spokesperson from Travis County Sheriff’s Office said after PEOPLE reached out. “We assisted in executing an out of state warrant and have no involvement in the case.”

In a statement shared with CBS News, the lawyer expressed his surprise by the new arrests.

"We're extremely surprised and very concerned about the arrest of the Clenney family; this could be an example of prosecutorial overreach and misconduct,” the statement read.
